Probably going to get a set of i-20's. Went to their site and put in my measurements and it recommended green dot, which just appears to be slightly greater loft. Is there something else I am missing? Am i going to see a noticeable difference between blacks and greens? Sorry if this is a dumb question. Trying to decide if i should just save time and go buy the blacks on the shelf at Golfsmith or not.

The different dots aren't different lofts; they're different lie angles. (which might have been what you meant, just using the wrong word)

Green is significantly upright (> 2 degrees), so if you fit into green, then buying the blacks off the shelf isn't the greatest idea. Then again, it's possible that you actually fit into the blacks b/c all the online tool provides is a static fitting based on height and wrist-to-floor measurements. It's a good place to start, but you really need to hit balls off a lie board to get a true, dynamic fitting.

Hope that made sense. Basically, it's probably worth your time getting someone to fit you properly.

go hit the black dots on a strike board and they can ballpark you what color you should get.

not really, I just hit every club on a board and have them adjust each to what the strike board said, for a $1 its worth it to me.

Will Golfsmith be able to do all of this?

I static fit blue/yellow but have a flatter swing so standard black was actually the right choice for me.

Find a quality fitter.

Didn't Ryan Palmer have an issue a few years back where he was playing clubs with the wrong lie angle? I remember the announcer saying "I can't believe he didn't notice that he was using those clubs...". Of course it was johnny "oakmont 63" miller I think...

I'm kinda surprised too. I had mine flattened about 2* throughout the set last year and noticed a pretty big difference in appearance and play. Not sure if I'd notice 1*, but I think I would.

Not really, bc it coincided with an overall setup and swing change. I went from standing much taller and swinging more up and down the line, to being bent over more at the waist with a swing path more around my body than before. My clubs are still slightly upright, but less than before. I'm now 1* up from std, vs 3*.

In hindsight, when I first tweaked the setup/swing, you're right, my balls were starting a little left; not a lot though. But I was also having much worse turf interaction. When I flattened them, everything felt good through impact again.

My main miss with my prior swing that led me to change things was actually a snap hook. Not related to lies/lofts/lengths or anything like that. But swinging more around my body has pretty much eliminated this shot.

Got fitted and ordered a set of ap2's 2 degrees upright (previously playing black dot Pings) back in October'ish. Played ~5-10 rounds with the ap2's and couldn't get over the visual at address of them being 2 degrees upright. It was obvious and distracting enough that i sold them about a month ago and bought a set of black dot i20's. Feels comfortable again.

My clubs just came in so I can't wait to get out and try them. Since I am a giant they set me up with the silver dots. I was using the maroon in store that had my +1.5 that I needed but still you could see I was coming in a little wrong so the silvers should be awesome.
