Leaving Wednesday morning with 7 good friends for 72 holes at some of the best golf courses I have ever played.
18 Wednesday afternoon at Crystal Downs. This Alistair MacKenzie course is one of my all time favorites. It can drive you nuts if you are not paying attention.
36 Thursday at the Kingsley Club, which is very similar to Crystal, but with a lot more length. 7,000 yard par 71. We will probably try to sneak in an emergency 9 here, if there is enough daylight. The club keeps a bottle of Jameson's whiskey hidden in a stone wall by the 18th tee. We will bring a replacement bottle (or two).
18 Friday at Wuskowhan Players Club. Another 7,000 yards, but at least it is a par 72. A little bit of a break here, with wide fairways. This course looks like they just found it in the middle of the woods, but it is perfectly manicured.
Although our weather forecast looks a little challenging this week, I highly recommend a September golf trip to Michigan. There are some really fabulous courses and the weather this time of year can be spectacular.
Other great courses that did not make the rotation this year include Arcadia Bluffs, Point o' Woods, the Dunes Club and Harbor Shores.
I will stop now before I am accused of being a schill for the Michigan tourism board.
