You're going to be very pleasantly surprised, especially for the price. It's a fantastic course and they do a great job keeping it up. No clue how they do it, but it has bent grass greens that stay alive through the summer. There's elevation changes you wouldn't expect in Abilene. I like the back 9, better than the front. The final four are great finishing holes.

I've taken several friends from different parts of the state out there to play and every time it's been the same story. They are shocked Abilene could have a golf course like that.

One more tip...it was built by 1971 Masters Champion, Charles Coody. He's out there all the time. Say hi and shake his hand. It's not everyday you get to meet a Masters champion.

What time are you playing on Saturday? I'm actually driving out there this weekend and we're teeing off at 8.

Here's a picture of the 15th hole. I'll be curious to hear your thoughts on the course after you play.

Just finished.. Thought the course was in fairly good condition. Not a lot of rough at all.. The grass was mown very tightly around every green.

I loved the greens.. Thought they were extremely pure. A little on the slow side though.

Driving range seemed like it hadn't been watered in weeks.

I'd say the toughest hole would be number 5.. I've never seen a green like that in my entire life.. Extremely undulated.. From the fairway I just thought it was an elevated green with a big false front short..

Other than that I didnt think the course was too demanding

Check out the Rawl's course in Lubbock sometimes. Ridiculously undulated greens on the entire course.

Rawls is a great course, played it quite a bit when I lived out there. It is one of my favorite courses in Texas. Just fun all around, and if the wind is right, the 3 finishing holes are super challenging

Glad you enjoyed it, Stones. You caught it on a great day as there wasn't much wind to contend with. The greens were a lot slower than they have been in the past. I'm no super so this could be completely wrong, but it seems like they're keeping them just a touch longer to help with the stress of the summer heat/dryness. They're still extremely smooth though.

I played the Rawls Course a few weeks ago and loved it. I had always heard great things about it and it still exceeded my expectations. I'm definitely going to try and get back out there this fall.
