I'd say I average about 114mph with a total range of 107 to 118mph per my Swing Mate meter I got 10-15 years ago, a nice find in the attic last week.

Damn, Titan...that's crazy fast. What do you average off the tee? 330? That's Bubba Watson league.

Are you a pro?

The highest I ever got on the meter was 131 once, but I don't trust it. That couldn't have been right.

about 108-110 on a controlled drive. I can touch 112-114 if I really get after it. When i turned 32 or so I lost 20 yards on my drive overnight. I dont know what it was before.

As long as I am controlling my spin I dont have a problem touching 300 yards or more out here in the desert. I will have a couple a round that get out there.

145 kph is nothing... I usually swing faster than 160 kph.

Are you sure those numbers are right for drivers or is that driving for the average tour player.

Driving numbers will be skewed by the holes that require a 3W or iron (not counting par 3s)

figured that would be higher. I suck hitting my driver and I'm not that far off those numbers.

This is crazy, if accurate. Where did you get the #s from? This is obviously data from one swing, as opposed to averages from the other pros you posted. It's nearly impossible to get a smash factor over 1.5 with a conforming driver, and I seriously question the monitor that shows 17* launch angle and 1865 rpm in the same swing.

Even with a perfect smash, a 360 carry (assuming no wind) is probably going to take close 135 mph CH speed. There are very few people that can carry a ball 360 yards, and just about all of them compete in long drive.

Dustin Johnson's swing looks the most powerful to me, but Watson obviously has a great smash to get such good distance from his body. Johnson at least has some muscle and is athletic, where Watson is just tall.

We might be confusing ball speed with clubhead speed. Ball speed > clubhead speed.

For most amateurs, clubhead speeds higher than 100-105 mph are pretty rare.

Ya this thread of full of the hidden tour players apparently. 120+ swing speeds. Right. You and Tiger

I've never been clocked, but I would guess 85-90ish

Bubbas stats can't be right. He may have a 191 ball speed but not with only a 125 swing speed. Clubs have to be manufactured so that the highest achievable ball speed is 1.5 times swing speed, and with most clubs, that has to be on the screws. So 125 x 1.5 = 187.

Tour avg so far this year is right at 112. I will have to let Raptor or Bagger do the metric conversion (too lazy). The max is Jamie Lovemark at 125mph.

I am sure most of those guys could swing the club up in the 120-130 range if they were simply trying to measure how hard they could swing the club, but there is this little detail called accuracy they worry about (unlike most of us).

In reference to Pedro's comment: Tour avg smash factor is right at 1.48 (ball speed/clubhead speed).

Unless I'm missing something, only one poster had mentioned 120 mph ch speed prior to your post.

I'll probably swing in the mid 120s after my first few rounds of "golf season", but I'd like to get back in better golf shape and add some distance (I've only played 4 times since November). I was hitting 3-woods between 112-117 mph today, and it was my second time to swing a club in 4-5 weeks.

I get what you're saying, but I'm guessing maybe 1/3 of PGA players could swing 130 and make decent contact. When you start getting around 125, it is hard for most people to get more speed without some combo of focused weight training, great flexibility, or doing lots of drills aimed at adding ch speed. I believe Tiger said the most he's been measured at is 128 or 129.

When I competed in long drive, I was typically 125-130 on the course & would get it up to 135 occasionally for par-5s or driveable par-4s. When I competed in actual long drive events, I typically ranged within a couple mph of 140 with decent control. Anything over about 142 & my control went way down. The guys that can hit it really far tend to be really strong and big (200 pounds is well below average); Sadlowski is the exception and is a freak in a good sense.

Agree. This is why college players and Nationwide players tend to hit it farther than pros. The courses are not as tight, so they get after it a little more.

That would of been strictly on a monitor. I was also swinging a 45" driver that I have since gone to 44" for a little more control recently. I more around 118-120 on a course. I hit my 15* 3W 75% of the time anyway though. It's more than enough on most courses and I'm about 15-20% more accurate. I'm also 6'4" with really long arms which I think benefits me. I've always had a pretty high swing speed. I was swinging a driver in HS around 110mph

When I was in a simulator last year my driver speed was hovering right around 100 mph (usually 98 or so).

Lets take a better more detailed look at Launch angle, average swing speed, ball speed, angle of attatck, vertical launch, land angle and carry distance. The stat that best sticks out is how well both the PGA and LPGA smash factors and spin rates are very similar with the biggest difference in RPM's coming in with the short irons, which is directly related to thier comparison's in swing speed.

I went out today to hit a large bucket of balls most of which were drivers as I'm working on my swing (want a long club).

With a driver, I'd say a averaged about 115mph with the range of 107mph for the lowest with the highest at 119mph. I had a lot of 115's.

So my 114mph wasn't a single swing, but probably the average of about 50 driver shots.

Good ole Cottonwood. Good swing, good tempo. But dude your a beast hitting that many balls with a driver.

I probably hit anywhere from 500-1000 balls a week including short game inside 10 yards, and I may not hit my driver 100 times. I would be worn out.

I had no idea the maximum height for every club was about the same for pros. That is very interesting.

Yea, I just like my muscles to be loosened up and hot.

500-1000 golf balls a week? Geez...that's nuts. I wish I could do that
