Has anyone played here or heard about it at all? I know it is new and I have been to the tribute before but for 175 dollar greens fees it seems kind of elitist....? Tripp Davis is a good course designer I know but just curious if it is worth the money.

All kinds of top course reviews for it in magazines and such btw. Any input is appreciated.

do not pay $50 to play Old American. Since being built, they have not bothered to keep it in shape. It is seriously in awful shape and the amenities of a course over $50 do not even exist.

Wow I had no idea, seems very good on Paper hence why I ask you folks. Maybe just hype I guess. They are asking members there for 5k a year plus cart fees. Seems pricey for just a course with no clubhouse or anything so I assumed the course was supposedly nice.

I am really itching to find something nice around where I live so I dont have to drive too far and this place is just around the corner

go play Frisco Lakes. It is a much better option than Old American right now.

I am not sure how much money they will need to spend to make Old American worth $75, much less $175, but I can assure you the problems exist not only with the fairways/greens/tee boxes/bunkers, but also all of the vegetation that should "shape" the course.

It really looks like they have run out of money or just don't care.

I like Frisco Lakes....it will be a great (although harder) course in 10-15 years when the trees grow up a little.

yeah Idealgolfer has Old American for $79 today and I didn't even bother to buy any. Too many other courses I would rather pay $80 to play.

Plus the $79 deal was after 2pm on Sat or Sun, so you are teeing off when it is 102 degrees.

Wow talk about a fall from Grace...kind of like the TPC craig Ranch story....I played there recently and it was not at all what I expected. Empty houses and lots all over the place. Kind of seemed depressing. The golf course was ok...nothing to write home about.

TPC CR is a nice course, but no one is a member out there. I have played it 4 or 5 times and the track itself is great, but the economy killed the residential area.

TPC CR had a huge initiation fee.

I recently checked on it, for a JR membership it was $15K down, which could be financed until you are 40, and $400/mo. And once you turn 40 you pay another $10K initiation and $600 or so per month.

Kinda step for a golf only membership, no real club.

Thanks for the heads up on The Old American Course. I saw today's Ideal Golfer. Glad I did not pursue it. As far as TPC CR, the economy did kill that development. They had visions of it being another Las Colinas type situation with the TPC out there. When it first opened up, the initiation fee was $45k I believe.

other issue with TPC CR is folks can join Stonebridge or another ClubCorp club and have the opportunity to play more courses.

From my understading, joining TPC CR does not get you playing privileges at other TPC courses.

Played Old American about a month ago. It's a pretty decent track, but until the get the clubhouse up and running, people would probably be hard-pressed to spend that much with the current economy for a round of golf at a course. Especially when the course hasn't even had a chance to mature. I also know David and Leonard are in the process of making some tweaks to the course.

OA has some really grand plans for the place, but honestly, I'll believe it when I see it. Like everyone already mentioned, CR has had issues finding people the residential developments, and I can't imagine memberships are flying off the shelves.

My buddy and I were talking down 16 at CR a couple weeks ago and couldn't believe they built those giant townhouses (that's what they look like to me) with zero lot lines. Can't honestly believe someone would pay that much for a place, even on CR's property.

With so many deals out there, I think places like CR and OA are going to struggle mightily to land members. Just my humble opinion.

I played there(TPC) about a month ago and was very underwhelmed. The drive into the place looked like a ghost town almost as if time just stopped at some point when the boom was going around there. They offered us a membership deal but it was way too much money. Lots of guys in the group we played in had the same thing to say. The golf course is nice but it just felt depressed out there. I went out the the Old American today just to drive by on my way home from work and it is basically a dirt road trailer with crappy golf carts right now. They are building a little clubhouse off the main road there but it didnt look like anything special. Think I will just keep looking around for something to become a member around here.

I wonder if I can tell them I'd like a "test round" for free as I consider their "junior" membership
