Ok so this is the second time in about 7 years that I've got my golf clubs stolen out of my car.

I don't normally leave them in there, but sometimes I forget to take them out.

This happen to anyone else?

no but have had my truck broken into twice. Lap-top once, misc crap the other time. Clubs go in tool box under lock and key....always.

sorry man that sucks

It is sad, but always take them with you. I don't even store my clubs at my golf club.

Know a ton of people who have had their clubs stolen out of Golfsmith, Golf Galaxy, etc parking lots.

There is a special place in hell for those that go around stealing from people like this.

Sorry to hear you had your clubs stolen. Maybe my story will give you some hope.

I had my clubs stolen from my truck over Christmas break my junior year when I was home in Galveston. I few days later, after I'd gone back to CS, my dad gets a call from a banker saying that some crack head sold him some clubs for $40. Thankfully I had my name on my bag tag and the guy was able to find my dad in the phonebook. The funniest part to me was when I got the bag back, my golf shoes weren't in there. It makes me laugh thinking about some crack head strutting around town in my FootJoys.

Never had my clubs stolen (knock on wood), but I did have one incredibly near-miss where the golf gods must have been watching over me:

Went to lunch on a Friday with co-workers and was leaving town after lunch for a long weekend that would include golf. So at lunch, my work-issued laptop is in my back floorboard and my golf clubs are laying across the backseat (4 door truck, no trunk available). As we leave lunch, I see the horror of broken glass on the ground next to my back window. As I peer in the window expecting to see both laptop and clubs gone, by some miracle my clubs are still there. They only stole the laptop which wasn't really mine anyway.

I've always wondered whether they were idiots just greedy for the laptop only, or maybe a customer drove up (or walked out of the restaurant) during the break-in and they couldn't yank the clubs out without drawing too much attention.

Where was you car when it happened? Driveway, restaurant, grocery store?

I almost always have my clubs in the trunk of my car and the thought of them getting jacked scares my wallet. It would be ~$3k to replace it all.

You should insure them.

My car was parked in my driveway. And its my commuter car which is a crappy 96 honda accord. Didn't have anything visible in the car either. So I'm not sure what attracted their attention to it.

They were fairly old and I was looking at getting a new set, but they were still a good set. And I just can't stand people that don't respect personal property.

My insurance company (USAA) covered me the first time they were stolen under renters insurance, so I'm hoping they do it again under homeowners insurance.

your deductible on homeowners may be high enough that it's not much help, unless you have some sort of personal property rider.

I have mine scheduled so there's no deductible. It's well worth it.

Think mine are covered as part of my renters policy, but there might be a deductible on that. Either way, I've got a bag of sticks that I'm pretty happy with right now and don't feel like trying to reacquire some of them.

I currently have a 4dr sedan, so a closed trunk, but what do you SUV drivers do if your clubs are going to be in the vehicle? Just cover them up with a towel or blanket?

I have left mine in the back of my pickup without losing them. Tough luck. BTW, the trunk of a car is not good for your clubs in the warm months. Even a mild day with direct sun the trunk gets plenty hot.

Worst case scenario, some epoxy comes loose and the head flies off?

I think I win the stupidest way to get your sticks stolen. Went to Northgate one evening after playing golf early that morning. Left my clubs in the bed of the truck all day long, and when I saw my truck in the garage at 2:00 a.m. is when it hit me they were back there. I had just purchased rifle shafts for my entire iron set to the tune of $300. That was one tough cookie for a "broke" college student to swallow.

Time to move bro...

Old neighborhood = stolen twice

New neighborhood = not a sniff of an issue and once the neighbor shut my trunk when I left it open half the night after unloading groceries.

Location, location, location!

actually the first time i had my clubs stolen I was living in an apartment, which I admit wasn't the nicest, but the price was right.

The second time, was in my new house in a pretty nice neighborhood. (150 to 300K homes) And the cop basically said it can happen anywhere. I mean short of living in a gated community with a guard, you're rolling the dice on thieves wherever you live.
