Anyone used an Aldila Voodoo shaft?

The long drive rep at Cobra said it was a good play shaft for my swing characteristics. I am looking at buying one for my driver and possibly the Cleveland Launcher 3-wood I ordered last night.

Any feedback on the shaft?

I have demoed it in the Titleist 909 drivers at a couple demo days. It was good shaft, imo.
I was knocking out there with a straight ball flight over 300 yards all day long.

Once I decide on which head I prefer (D2, D3 or DComp), I'm going with the Voodoo over the Diamana.

The shafts in the Titleist drivers are "Made for Titleist" versions, which are usually cheaper shafts and not made with all of the same characteristics and technology as the real aftermarket shafts.

With that said, the Voodoo is a great shaft. It mid-low launch, low spin and is very stable throughout the swing. I played one for a short time before I switched to the Diamana Whiteboard.

I found that the Voodoo had a little too much spin and too high launch for me. Supposedly, the Voodoo NV is lower spin, but I haven't hit one.

Yeah the Voodoo in the Titleist 909's arent the same as the real Voodoo. I personally think the ones in the Titleist drivers are complete garbage, I ripped it out and put in the V2 after 1 round.

Ive never hit the real Voodoo, but alot of people like it.

Ive owned both the D2, and D3, and I liked the D3 much better. The D2 seemed to put too much spin on the ball for me and I got a more boring traj with the D3.

I have a real Voodoo that was a tour van pull. Its a nice shaft and I like it. The thing is that for me it does seem to encourage a higher ball flight, so I only use it on days where the fairways are wet as I prefer a lower trajectory on other days.

The one I'm looking at today is a tour issue, 43.5" XDV7. The thing that meakes me hesitate to buy is that I've some some reviews saying it promotes a high ball flight. I will be putting this on a 15* 3-wood. A high ball flight is good here in Denver, but I don't want to hit balloons.

Check out the Diamana Blueboard. It's one of the best 3 wood shafts I've found. I play the 103x in my 13* Titleist and it's a great shaft. Mid to low flight and it's very smooth. This is the real version not the "made for"

I didn't use the "Made tor Titleist" shafts. I used the real thing. Those MFT shafts are for short knockers.

They bring out all the shafts along with outdoor launch monitors at the demo days out here. So we get to try everything.

And I used an 8.5 head to take the spin off and keep the ball down. If you like a shaft but spin the ball too much for optimal launch conditions you just go with a stronger loft.

Is it sad that I still use the purple and gold Pro Force shaft in my driver ?

I had that shaft in my old 3 wood and a Titlest J driver. I like that shaft, but not sure it would work on these bigger heads.

I talked to the tour equipment guy for Horsepower Golf, and he nudged me toward the UST Axiv Core. This was my initial # 1 choice, so I will probably try it out in my driver soon. If I like it, I will put it in a 3 wood. It looks like I can get one for $90 on Ebay, compared to $140 retail.

Which Axivcore? I briefly tried out the red and I couldn't get used to the counterbalance. It made it so that I couldn't feel the head at all.

The green isn't counterbalanced though, and I hear good things about it...lower launch and spin.

I always heard the Axiv Core were high launching. Here is a great graph showing all the different drivers.

http://media.titleist.com/images/cobragolf/products/drivers/pdfs/CustomShafts.pdf

It shows their launch angle and spin rate.

Proud- I have a ProForce V2 76g XS if you are interested.

I am setting up a new driver with the components arriving this week. I picked the UST Axivcore Red in 79 a XX for the shaft from 2 putt golf on Ebay. Ran me $80. I should have the club built over the weekend, and can provide a review if you are interested.

D- Thanks for posting that graph. I'm interested in that UST shaft.

Erick- I'd like to get your feedback on the Axiv Core.

Eric,

How do you like the AxivCore shaft?

I am pretty impressed with the AXIV core. I put it on a 8.5* Adams 9032LD at 47". It took a few swings to get used to the non-long drive club, but once I had it dialed in the shaft would take everything I could put through it. Ball flight was good not too high and spin looked good. I have yet to hit the club on course yet, so I don't know about distances, but from the looks of the range balls I was getting good roll. I am playing Saturday, so I can let you know how distance is later in the week.

If you are on the fence on trying this out, I would give it a shot. The link below has the shaft for $85 and you can't go wrong for that price.

You're calling a 9032LD with a 47" XX shaft a non long drive club?
Erick01
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yep. I have been hitting a 6* loft on a XXX shaft at 50" total length. This is the shortest club and highest loft I have hit in 5 years. Now that my long drive days are over, I am actually trying to gain a little more control. The 50" driver would go a long way, but not always the right way.

Thanks for posting that link. Those shafts are really cheap. I may go with the Axiv Green, as I believe a tour club-fitter told me that tons of pros play that shaft. I'm also probably going to get a V2 3-wood shaft for $30.
The D

great link. Ive been wanting to put proforce shafts in all my woods also but ive been pounding my 3 wood lately with the stock shaft.

I would assume I would just get the Stiff shafts for my hybrid and 3 wood if I hit the 76g Stiff V2 in my driver?
The D
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I would also probably get them cut down an inch for both hybrid and 3 wood.
Erick01
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I have also heard that the Green is very popular on tour.

I have a new 3 wood coming that has the Proforce V2 shaft in an X flex at 85 grams. I am becoming a big fan of UST.

Just messing with you, Eric. I realize that to guys like you and proud, it's a fairway finder, but to 99.9% of the golfing public, it's a non-retail long drive head on a >46" shaft! I'm sure it's fun to hit though.

I can barely find a fairway with a normal 45" shaft, so I don't know how you guys do it.

Try hitting the d3, 3.5 degree with a bamboo (Sp) shaft.

It's what the asians use.
proudaggie02
How long do you want to ignore this user?
You know how much clubhead speed is required to hit a 3.5 successfully? I don't see how that is possible.
TxAginAz
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Hmm, the only way I can think of is that if the bamboo shaft kicks before the contact with the ball and adds effective loft to the driver.

I know, I kid I kid.

Last month I did a demo day in Phoenix and hit a 3.5 driver. I swing 110-115 and I was worm burning the ball. It was nuts.

The bamboo shaft is great, but you have to get your materials from the Shoo-Shin province. They have the best.

I went to the site to order earlier, and it is now $130 for the AxivCore shafts. Golfsmith also had them for cheap last week, and they are now $140. I'm kicking myself for waiting.
