Yes I have played them both this year. Last time a played Canyon Gate was a month ago or so and they had just punched the greens. The course is short and pretty straightforward. It is not a dessert course. It is always in good shape and the greens can be very tricky and very slick. I get pumped up when I go there because it is usually in good condition and you can score there(if you keep the ball below the hole(.

Bears I played last in January. It is a pretty course with good views of the valley. It is more difficult than Canyon Gate but not overly challenging. The greens are probably easier.

All in all you will play two pretty good courses. Not the best in Las Vegas but you should be pleased with those two.

Another note on Canyon Gate-I do not know what caliber of player you are but Canyon Gate should be played from the tips. It is only 6700ish from back there and I dont think it plays that long.

Did I mention to keep the ball below the hole. You can putt the ball of the green if you get in the wrong position.

There is a house on the back 9, I think it is on 14 or 15 tee box. Anyway it is on the tee box of a par five after a long par 3. It has a beautiful pool and some pretty impressive rock work. And I think it may be empty.

I've played maybe seven courses in Vegas and Bear's Best is in my top three. Believe your forcaddie when he tells you everything breaks back towards the strip even if your eyes tell you different.

well, I'm back (I used to post under my wife's account, blue-eyes). I really liked Canyon Gate (very well manicured and the greens were solid). The day I played CG there was zero wind. The day I played Bear's Best it was 20 mph winds and was ridiculous. I still scored a 90 at BB because of a stretch of 3 birdies in 5 holes that helped the scorecard from getting out of hand. I'd really enjoy playing BB again with 0-10 mph winds (not 20). There were some CRAZY nice/expensive homes on the BB course.
