My 'Stros looked like crap last night. Wandy couldn't find his arm slot, was wild both in and out of the strike zone, and doesn't have enough power to survive being unable to locate his pitches.

On to SF still in first place for the wildcard. The good news includes we have Pettite, Oswalt and Clemens facing the Giants and Alou may be out with a pulled hamstring. The bad news includes the cold in SF and Jason Schmidt. We did win the series in AZ and have to keep doing that to get to the playoffs. I sure wish we could have gotten Dunn. Does anyone know when he can become a free agent?

Dub, this begs a question. Do you keep Zeke or Wandy in the rotation when Backe comes back?

I was impressed by Halsey last night... first time I'd seen him pitch since his Texas days. Played against him in little league and high school and it's cool to see him doing well. He looks like he's going to be a good one with that cutter.

Dag - It's a coin flip. Zeke's got better stuff, but Wandy has performed longer better as a starter. Wandy would be another lefty coming out of the pen, but we don't know if he's physically or mentally adaptable to a relief role. I'd like to see them go ahead and give Backe longer rest and see if the pulled ribcage will heal more. Expanded rosters could make the decision moot. Ii read that Hernandez was hitting 90 MPH. That's good news.

I would drop Wandy for a few starts. keep backe because of his bat as the #5 starter.
