This is a question for Aggies, Longhorns, and any other Big XII rivals. Who will be a relatively unknown player who will step up and surprise people who don't religiously follow your team. We all know about Reggie McNeal, Vince Young, Jarrett Hicks, etc., but who are unknown guys who will be talked about this season.
Here are my submissions for Texas Tech:
Offense: Y receiver Robert Johnson. Johnson has amazing athletic ability, and even though he originated as a QB, has very soft hands to go along with his speed and elusiveness. With Hicks being the focus of attention, I believe Johnson will rack up very impressive receiving numbers and may even throw a pass or two. He will be considered for the Big XII newcomer of the year award.
Defense: Dwayne Slay. A physically imposing 6'4" 215 lb safety, a number of bone jarring tackles will fill up Tech's defensive highlight reel this season. He is also very rangy, leading Tech last year in interceptions despite only seeing the field about 20% of the time on defense last year. I predict we will see several receivers slam to the turf if they dare cross in front of Mr. Slay.
Whose name should we remember from your teams?
