I played when I was young and really liked it. Now, I see these guys running their ever-loving ass off for what, a goal an hour.

Either I've lost my appreciation for soccer or our brand of football is that much more exciting.

Soccer is for smelly chain smoking foreigners, or parents with kids who lack the talent to play real football or another men's sport.

It might be more fun than book collecting. I've never tried either one.

13-0, there are many soccer players who are some of the most explosive athletes in the world.

One of the most boring sport there is to have to watch.

If you are an actual fan of soccer, you probably have AIDS and didn't contract it from a blood transfusion.

It doesn't take brains to watch a bunch of idiots run around and kick a ball to each other. That used-up statement is nothing more than a ridiculous ploy to give the sport some sort of redeeming quality, an intellectual one.

I have never understood the soccer pansy argument, and don't give the bull$#!! flopping crap. It is just as bad in basketball.

I played football & baseball for 10 years each & only managed to cut my head open twice, nose once, 1 concussion & the typical, sprains & strains.

I played goalie on a club team in college for a couple of years & broke my nose 3 times, 2 ribs, 1 concussion & torn ligaments in my left ankle.

But, yes, soccer is for pansies & golf is for the rest of you athletes

Futbol or Soccer is the Communist Sport of Choice why it cost practically nothing to play other than a ball and two sticks in the ground at opposite end of a field of grass or dirt. Only Socialist and Commie Libs play Soccer.

I know that's why Cuba & China are so good at it, or does that now mean that baseball & boxing are communist sports too since our Florida neighbors are good at that too?

Not liking it because you find it boring, etc. is one thing. I love baseball, but 90% of the people in this country alone can't stand to watch it.

We're too advanced for soccer. We're too big, too strong, too smart, too fast. It's too simple. That's why it flourishes in smaller/poorer nations.

It's a numbers game. For most countries, soccer is the only game in town. In the U.S., it is not even close to the top in terms of participation or fan support. Hence, our best athletes are playing other sports.

Actually, it is just behind football & softball for number of participants 11-17 in the US. Basketball being number 1. These numbers are helped since it counts boys & girls, however football team rosters are usually at least 3-4 times the size of other team rosters.

Interesting that softball has around 7 million more participants than baseball.

As for trends, Hockey had close to a 30% decline in the last couple of years. Baseball, football & soccer were all around 10% in decline. Take that for what it is worth. Must be alot of anti-communist football momentum out there. That sucks it is the best by far

How many of us actually played tackle beyond twenty two years old. Football produces primarily fans/couch potatoes. You can play futbal till you damn near die.

i've never played soccer in my life but i like watching it.

there's an extreme amount of satisfaction in being ranked in the top 10 in FIFA for a sport that half of america could care less about. it pisses alot of the euros off.

i can understand why some don't like it. takes a while to get used to and i can only sit and watch an entire game if its an international match with the US playing. definately different from other sports, but saying the guys aren't athletic is ignorant.

If you can convince the ref it was flagrant enough he will red card and eject the other player. You now play 10 vrs 11 which is a huge advantage. In basketball a Bill Lambier would have to flop and get the call on the same player six times to get him kicked out but the coach still gets to put in a sub. If the basketball team was down to four players like soccer for one bad foul, all you would see was guys flopping and pretending to be dead. Same for football if the other team could not sub for the ejected player. The rule was meant to protect soccer players who are not dressed like gladiators with pads and helmets but some idiots have carried it too far!

Gymansts and synchronized swimmers are 'athletic', but that doesn't make thier competitions worth watching more than once every 4 years.

I dont know where you get this idea that soccer is cheap to play...I payed $2000 a year. Along with baseball, football, and basketball...most of you must be hicks from small towns, and thus you have your ideas of soccer.

Yes, genius, that's why I stated as such, and also mentioned that football teams typically have 20-40 more players on a team, thus evening things out. There are also sports like hockey up north that cut into baseball's stake, but considering that football & baseball are on polar f u ck i n g opposites seasonally, I don't get your point.

I don't know why I bother half of the time. It's like talking to people who work for people who work for the people who work for me.

I also stated that football is by far #1 with me. Dislike soccer all you want, but calling them pu$$!es, or equating there athleticism with gymnasts & figure skaters is fu c k ing idiotic. Some of the best players in the world are in the 6-2, 210 range. Have some of you dip$h!ts seen a guy like Schmeicel or Vinny Jones????? Those guys would wipe their @$$e$ with any of you
