I thnk he'll have the standard "I'm sorry" (which translates to but I don't mean it) - but I think there is a chance he may not pitch in the Allstar game. If he was smart he'd back out himself just to save face and another possible media blwoup in Detroit - he's going to get hammered with questions there.

Believe it or not, I put just as much blame on the ORGANIZATION as I do Kenny...The Rangers have been lowering themselves recently, with the chair throwing, Cordero's crotch grabbing and now this....

sounds like they took a page out of the Texas Tceh handbook!

and what exactly should the organization do? That is absolute BS. Those guys are grown men...if they behave inappropriately, you can't just blame their employer.

If I went down to court today and told a female judge that I wouldn't mind shaving her carpet tonight, I don't think that would be a reflection of my law firm.

As for what the organization is doing, they hired someone from Juan Dominguez's country to live with him in U.S. and teach him about the cultural differences, etc. I don't think they could have done anything to prevent the Kenny Rogers incident and most likely not the Frank Francisco incident either.

By the way, the Dallas paper is calling this an "announcement."

Think there is a chance Kenny is walking away from the game today? He's gettin' old, and the Rangers have failed to extend his contract beyond the year. Some are questioning his toughness for missing the start against the Angels (which I think pushed him over the edge with the cameraman).

Either that or he's announcing that he's skipping the All Star game or dropping his appeal.

I put partial blame on the organization because they stand back behind their players when this stuff happens and shrug their shoulders....Fransisco was out 10 games BECAUSE THE LEAGUE SAT HIM, not because the Rangers decided to discipline him...Now with Rogers that seem like they are actually taking his side on the whole mess instead of punishing Kenny

and what has the organization done that leads you to believe they are taking his side on this? I have watched John Hart, Buck Showalter, Tom Hicks and Orel Hershiser denounce his actions wholeheartedly.

If you think they should have sat him instead of letting him pitch as in the Frank Francisco incident, you have obviously never dealth with the MLB Players' Association (who takes up all of the appeals on behalf of the players.) Familiarize yourself with the pubication entitled "Basic Agreement between the American League of Professional Baseball Clubs and The National League of Professional Baseball Clubs and Major League Baseball Players Association." I believe the effective date was January 1, 1997.

I just hate seeing the team go the way it is right now with all that the players have been doing recently...I said during the Cowboy problems and I'll say it now as well: Players attitudes and actions are a reflection of their coaches and their organization. I blame some of the Cowboys problems on the likes of Switzer and Jones, and I can't help but put alot of this on Buck and Hart not running things correctly.

Hicks never sounded more dug-in, more stubborn, more lost-touch-with-reality than he did on Monday. Any owner who so misjudged the current anger of his paying customers, and instead came across as arrogant and cavalier, cannot in any way be expected to know when it's time to say when...Randy Galloway on Tom "sip" Hicks...sounds just like a sip doesn't it?

This all started with Canseco.

That Rangers game in Cleveland years ago when a fly ball went off Canseco's head and into the stands for a home run....

Rogers was on the mound.

We have indeed left the era of personal responsibility. I am defending several bars/nightclubs in Dram Shop cases, where the drunk individual is suing the bar for serving him the alcohol he ordered.

The incidents speak to personal character issues. The organizations can force players to attend sensitivity training, anger management, whatever else the hell you can concoct. But what it boils down to is the fact that you are giving millions to immature individuals who are out of touch with the real world. Nothing an organization can do about that...and you're just making up excuses for the players if you think otherwise.

I am getting tired of all these millionair babies having fits with the media and fans. Whether they like what they hear or not, they are paid big money to play a game, so grow up. If they cannot handle the fans and/or media go out and get a 40 hour, 8-5 job like everybody else. I know the fans can be rude and piss them off but hey you are a professional athlete getting paid unreal money to play a kids game. They should be thankful for what they are able to do w/their god-given gift. JMO

I missed it because I just got back from seeing a movie. I heard it on the Ticket on the way back, but it was just the last part, just a real small excerpt. He waited too damn long, he's lost my respect. With that said, I'm heading to the Temple in about 30 minutes!

Or they can trade him...

The Suns did this with Jason Kidd awhile back after he hit his wife...

It is more effective then sitting someone...and you can always find someone to trade with (unless he has a no-trade clause in his contract)...

And if so, why not just buy him out and release him?

Why not buy him out and release him? He is their best pitcher who made a stupid 30-second mistake. We're talking about a team in the pennant race. If they're sick of him, trade him. I think they learned their lesson in Ryan Drese's case to at least get SOMETHING in return.

well then it comes down to whether or not they support this type of action...

Kidd was a big star in Phoenix, he got nailed for assualt (which it sounds like rogers is going to get hit with) and he was out of town in a heart beat...

Im just offering suggestions...

regardless, if the team doesnt do something the message they are sending is that they condone this type of behaviour...You can "coach speak" until you are blue in the face, but that isnt action

The team needs to simply assess whether or not the punishment inevitably handed down by the league is adequate. Since this was the heaviest punishment anyone has received except for Pete Rose shoving the umpire (30 games), I think Rangers brass will consider this a done deal.

To do otherwise would, in my opinion, be excessive, be in violation of the Players' Agreement, be financially ignorant and absolutely be overreacting to a situation that has now been blown out of proportion.

I don't really care if rogers pushed a scumbag in the entertainment business...since there is no real media anymore. Now most of you are brainwashed by them into believing rogers is illegal.

I expect no less from someone from Spewston who hates Dallas teams more than he loves his own team. Very insightful.
