I think of Fickell and Matt Campbell as the same youngish Midwestern guy. Not sure either can match Lincoln Riley as an aggressive and smart young coach.

I'll take the recovering alcoholic. At least he has years watching and hopefully learning from Pete Carroll and Nick Saban.

I don't disagree with your overall point, but hiring Sarkisian is not in any way "swinging for the fences." There are only a few guys out there that would qualify for that label. The horns reportedly missed on one a few weeks ago. (For reference, three years ago the Ags connected.)

By the way, swinging for the fences just means making a bold bet. I think Sark would have fallen under that category. He has red flags in his background, but there are also indicators that he could be tremendously successful under the right conditions.

When you hired Jimbo Fisher, you just simply accomplished what Texas did not with Saban and Meyer. Good for you. The stars lined up for you.

I'm there. I think we need to play by the exact same 'rules' everyone else does. I used to subscribe to one of those Inside sites and no one could ever answer my question which is if everyone is 'cheating' then why don't we turn them in and make a big stink about it? Well either the rules aren't really being broken or Texas is unable to work against the tide of sentiment going the other way. So forget it. Play to win. We're the butt of all the jokes anyway - might as well use all that money and win games.
