Kick out Texas and OU and invite Texas A&M.

I assumed this was a satirical article. It turns out the guy is dead serious. That's really disturbing that people actually believe we should or would go back.

If Texas left, wouldn't there be some TV network that would help bait a lucrative hook that might lure, say, A&M, LSU and either Nebraska or Arkansas into a true Big 12 dozen?
These guys really don't have a ****ing clue about what they are talking about do they.

The sip media in this state has had their head up their asses for so long they've totally forgotten how to even think.

The author certainly is struggling with the concept of $EC tv dollars. Who the hell is going to give up that kind of coin?

More likely kick out Fox as a business partner and go for NBC-Comcast deal. Makes as much sense. NBC is the only OTA network without a deal other than a few Notre Dame home games. If they still have a hankering to get into college football, buy out ESPN's interest in the LHN and convert it into the Big XII channel. Big XII double-headers OTA every Saturday and a cable channel (MSNBC is ripe for a format change) for the other games.

Yeah, crazy, but makes just as much sense as what the idiot in Bohunk's linked article posited.

See, you clowns were wrong all along. When Nebraska and A&M go running back to the B12, Texas will decide whether to join/upgrade the SEC or the B1G.

Hahahahahaha.... You took the bait several years ago and Texas checkmated you. Welcome back to the B12....

[Now that was funny.]

I'm sure Randy Duke will be explaining this in a 19 part series on the shag.

My guess is that the writer went on a three day tequila-cocaine-meth bender this weekend and then last night while still very high he realized that he had a Sunday night deadline. So he threw this crazy mess together to make the deadline.

His editor is probably personally checking him into rehab as we speak.

I subscribe to this paper. I saw this article and just chuckled.

Here's his problem. When presenting his ludicrous idea, he says: "If you're laughing, you probably thought Texas A&M would never leave Texas, either."

No, I'm laughing AND I thought A&M would leave the sips behind. He seems to think A&M leaving was such a wildly outrageous thing that now ANYTHING could happen. This is proof positive he doesn't understand the economics of what happened.

I'd heard that sports writers were heavy drinkers, but this is weapons grade intoxication! A&M leave the SEC? A&M was featured on ESPN Gameday twice in the 16 years they were in the Big 12. A&M has now been featured on ESPN Gameday three times in the 4.5 years they've been in the SEC. Texas vs. OU was on FS1... whatever the hell that is. A&M would give up their spot in the SEC playing Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, LSU, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State to play Iowa State, Baylor, Texas Tech, TCU, Kansa, et al? Are you on dope?

In his defense, the likelihood of this scenario is equal to any other that has the B12 remaining a P5 conference long term.

This Little 10 is afraid of me...I have seen its true face. The TV deal is an extended gutter and the gutter is full of crappy 11am matchups and when the drains finally scab over, all the Iowa States and Baylors will drown. The accumulated filth of all their lack of playing defense will foam up about their waists and all the horny toads and wild cats will look up and shout "Save us A&M! Join our league!"... and I'll look down and whisper

"No"

So in less that five years, we have gone from "good riddance to A&M", "A&M is going to regret leaving" to "save us A&M!!!!".

How amusing.

Big XII is dead because its TV partners have given up on it. You know, the same people who know the ratings and the ad rates quite intimately?

Ultimately, besides the sip's toxicity, what will kill the Big XII is lack of fan support. Baylor, TCU, tech, OSU, WVU, ISU even KSU have small fanbases and alumni. OU has a larger fanbase, but still in a small population state and The Boz has been gone for a loooooonnnggg time.

Sip fans are too fair weather to be reliable, even with a large alumni base.

Nebbie and A&M will never have that problem. Our fan bases alone propped up the Big XII in the latter years, even when tu didn't suck. Once both of us left, the truth about the real fans of the conference became evident.

That would be a better explanation than stupidity. Drug addiction can be overcome. All kidding aside, I would be embarressed to have my name attached to that article.

The bottom line. Jack Welch said that the only reason businesses fail is that they lack customers. The BDF does not have enough customers.

Don't tell them that because they were happy to see us leave and remember, TCWho was the upgrade that "replaced us".

It's almost like we're the object of their stages of grief.
Denial- "good riddance to A&M"
Anger- "A&M is going to regret leaving."
Bargaining- "save us A&M!"
Grief- ???
Acceptance- "I guess the American conference is better than nothing."

You all missed the glaring statement. One that would make even Herbie proud.

He basically said to save the BXII, they need to get rid of the Sips and add two anchor schools (A&M and Nebraska) that bring much more to the conference than the Sips.

The Sips are the problem. Always have been and Gil is as much stating that.

Get rid of the Sips... to save the conference.

Let me try to clear this up for all the fat, flatulent sportswriters who write about conference expansion with all the skill of an orangutan trying to do long division..........

A&M loves the SEC and isn't coming back. Ever.

The Startlegram continues to confuse their sports department with the obituaries.

Give that paper two more years and their whole sports "section" will be nothing but wire reports... It's close to that now.
