• If Symons were to continue at his current pace of 490.5 yards per game (and the 3-1 Red Raiders play in a bowl), he would finish with 6,377 yards on the season, breaking Ty Detmer's single-season record by a grand total of 1,189 yards. Detmer threw for 5,188 yards at BYU in 1990.

It's a little early for Heisman talk, but if he can keep putting up rediculous numbers against the meat of the Big12 schedule, and Tech can win 8 or more games he will have as good a shot as anybody in this year's lite field.......

I don't think that Heisman voters will be fooled again by QBs in gimmick offenses, after seeing their productivity in the NFL.

Imagine if we played Symons for the 4 years he was here. lol. I think we would only break the passing records. Kliff was good enough to win us the games which I would trade for all those records.

so heisman voters use NFL potential in their voting huh...

see: Eric Crouch, Heupel, c'mon guys, I know there's more.

So does Nebraska and OU have "gimmicky" offenses.

The NFL argument is so lame. If he does this all year, and wins MANY games, there is a legitimate chance.

It doesn't have anything to do with NFL potential. It has everything to do with team prestige, media exposure and success - Tech has none of those.

12-0: I must have missed the part of the article which said he would win the Heisman. And I also remember you telling us that Klifford would win the Heisman.

I overestimated Texas Tech's media presence. You see, Kingsbury lit the way for B.J. to win the Heisman by exposing Tech's explosive offense. It took a couple of years for the media to notice and by that time he was gone. I'm sure he would have won the Heisman if the votes were taken after the Clemson game.

B.J. WILL WIN THE HEISMAN! INDEED!

Never since Andre Ware was followed by David Klingler has college football seen two QBs that were so totally a product of their stone-aged option passing system.

Kliff's heisman chances left with the OU game.
I remember befor the game (right after we beat Texas) it was all over the sports shows that he had a shot. Yes, i know they killed us, but HAD he pulled that game off, he would've had a VERY good chance. So my point, it ALL depends on winning big games.
