Any idea when the Howard Lane location is going to open up?

The sign went up last week...just curious if anyone knows.

Great...one less person in line in front of me.

Sure makes a lot of money to suck so bad.

Nothing better than fried pickles and wings from Wings N More.

I just saw that earlier this week. No idea when it opens, though. Can't wait, though, because it's right next to where I live.

From their website (http://www.wingsnmore.com/locations.html):

Wings N More has stiff competetion in Hooters just down the road - More of a Wings N Boobs kind of concept.

I was never impressed by that place. I prefer Pluckers personally.

No sip ever likes Wings N More, burgers at the Chicken, or the BBQ at C & J's.

They can't see through crap orange glasses to admit when something is good.

Today sip says it sucks.

Next year he'll be telling everyone "Wings ACTUALLY got started in Austin and maybe there's one in College Station...I dunno..."

Ty_________Webb
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Not true...

I've never eaten burgers at the Chicken, but the ones at Chicken Oil are great. I've never been to C&J's, but the BBQ at Tom's that everyone crows about is crap. I go to Freebird's once a week. Wings N Things N More is just not all that special.

Maybe if you could see through your maroon sequin encrusted Elton John glasses you'd realize that B/CS is not exactly a culinary hotspot.

Who the hell ever "crowed" about Tom's barbeque being good? That place SUCKED!!

All I used to hear about is how great Tom's was.

I asked the waitress in there what eating "Aggie Style" was. She informed me that it meant eating with a knife. I told her I was relieved because I assumed it meant just eating with your hands. She was not impressed.

This works out for everyone!

Aggies eat at Wing'n'More and the Chicken, and Horns go to Ruth's Chris or get boobs with their wings at Hooters.

No fights. No arguments. Peace and love, bros.

Tom's sucked it up after the Paki's bought it.

These threads crack me up. In some cases, I think you Ags have a point in that UT people will say it sucks just because it started in College Station. I couldn't care less. I just think it sucks period.

Conversely, I had a couple of buddies (one an Ag, one a SMWho grad) that raved about Texadelphia until they found out its "UT lean," at which time they said it was overrated (ironic). I'm sure it happens the other way around as well.
LawAg03

I don't like Texadelphia because everything tastes like onions there. However, I do like some places from the People's Republic. Threadgills is good.

I heard Pappasito's has Aggie ties. I feel like a schmuck for saying this about a chain, but I think they have the best fajitas in Austin.
LawAg03
How long do you want to ignore this user?
The Pappas family is close to A&M.

Is there a Los Cucos in Austin yet?

We've been going to a fairly new one over here and they have great beef fajitas and it's relatively cheap. The meat is tender and marinated the best I have tasted.

My Dad was in the Corps with Harris Pappas, they gradudated same year. So yes, I'd say he's pretty close to A&M.

Back to resaurant smack, I agree that CS isn't the best place on earth to find good food but there are few spots. Wings N More is okay, nothing special. I can handle Freebirds about every other month. Tom's BBQ did suck, especially the brisket and sausage.

As for Austin, it is not better as a whole than any other city in Texas. Basically the same restuarants as they have everywhere else. A couple of good local BBQ and Mexican joints but you can say the same for any other town in Texas.

Having lived in both Houston and Austin, and having family in Dallas, it would seem that Austin is far behind the other 2 in terms of good to great non-chain restaurants.

I don't think that's fair. Austin has some great restaurants...Hudson's on the Bend, Saltlick, Jeffrey's, Fonda San Miguel, Carmello's, Eddie V's, Roaring Fork, Bellagio, Austin Land and Cattle and if you include the surrounding areas, the BBQ is second to none.

Fair enough. I lived in Arlington for a couple years, about the same.

Ty - I agree that Austin has some good spots. But it's no New Orleans. As far as Texas goes, Houston by far has the best restaurants. I'd go as far as to say that Houston may be on the top of my list for US cities as far as restaurants go (right up there with N'Orleans and Chicago).
Andyzipp
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Usually, Houston is listed as top 5 amongst cities like San Francisco, New Orleans, New York and Chicago when it comes to restaurants.
Ty_________Webb
How long do you want to ignore this user?
You would assume Houston would have more good restaurants, it has 4 times as many people. And nowhere in Texas can compete with New Orleans, but to say Austin is any other town in Texas is just silly.

Northgate Texadelphia is now out of business.

Gig 'em.

It doesn't surprise me. They were never that busy. Seems like a nice building in a good location.

texadelphia sucked all around

stupid name, lots of cash for not much food, and the food wasnt that great to begin with

I like Wings N More wings better than Hooters. Hooters puts too much breading on them. It's like eating fried chicken.

dub, you talk about ruth's chris in every other freakin post you make

you know what they say about people that are always alluding to how much money they have, right?

ruth's chris and all those other similar places that charge an a-s load for a non-wood fire grilled steak (anybody from Texas knows steak is to be cooked over oak or mesquite) are extremely yankee-fied and more over rated than a mack brown coached football team

Wings N More spicy bbq flavored wings are outstanding.

Real Texans cook over Juniper.

Are you boosting about restraunts that are found all over America? Big deal. Within ten minutes of my house there are four Hooters and a Ruth's Chris. We are talking about unique college town restraunts.

If we want to talk about great places to go and blow some money. Let's talk about Bob's Steak and Chop House. If we all want to look at boobs why bother with Hooters. I'm sure that baby dolls will make a better discussion. You sips can discuss ChipandDales if you wish.

EDIT
Scratch that. I can cook a better steak than Ruth's Chris and there are more than enough boobs at my house. I do however have a problem matching the taste of Wings from Wings N More, Peperonni Rolls from Double Dave's and a Monster from Freebirds.

So what did we learn here today. Aggies can cook there own steaks and are satisfied with their own wives. Sips have to pay $60 for a good steaks and have to go outside the home to find boobs.
