I have seen threads here about who will replace Mack Brown; yet...

Are you aggies Frantic about the fact your Great Hope averages 3.33 years per school as a head coach? It appears he was never fired either. Is this guy a football coach or in the military?

[eyebrow raised] Hmmmmmm [/eyebrow raised]

He does have one over on Brown...he has ONE out-right DIV I conference championship at New Mexico....but then he quickly bolted for TCU to make a run at the Conference USA title

[eyebrow raised] Hmmmmmm [/eyebrow raised]

So what happens at TAMU, does he endure his 3 seasons averaging 8 games a year only take advantage of some OTHER opportunity

or

Does he take Tamu to the Big 12 Title only to bolt for....let's say an opportunity to coach a big-time program like Florida St.(Bobby retires soon IMHO), Florida (Zook gets canned) or Penn St. (see Bobby).

Those three programs you just named are either in disaray(Florida and PSU) or are on their way down like FSU. How are you're classes going whorn by birth?

I think it is safe to say that Coach Fran would never leave to go to t.u. or as it is better known:

Why on earth whould anyone be afraid of Fran leaving. Seriously, think about the scenarios.

1) He gets fired. That's a no brainer, if he gets fired he wasn't performing, move on to the next one.

2) He leaves for a "top" college program. Not likely. Who's going to out bid us? Besides which, they're only going to be interested in him if he makes A&M a top program. If he makes A&M a top program, why would he leave for another school? When his contract gets close, he'll get the money he wants from us, afterall we can afford it.

3) He goes to the NFL. We should be so lucky. In order for the NFL to want Fran he would have to take A&M to the top of college football. I can handle that, I think most Ags could. So Fran goes off to the pros and we just throw a truckload of money at the next great coach on the rise and off we go. If Fran builds A&M into that type of program we'd have no problem replacing him with a quality coach.

So like I said, he only leaves for two reasons. He either blows it (not likely) and gets canned or he has great success and goes pro and we inject another quality coach to take over a top program.

on the flip side, you horns won't have to worry about Mack leaving. No school is going to pay him more than you do for what he produces and the NFL wouldn't touch him with a 10' pole. Not at this point in his career at least.

He did this at TCU(conf USA...yah I know) and Alabama.

Ok horn, slowly re-read Urban Ag's post and all will become clear.

Summary:

1) does terrible and gets fire = no loss for us if he leaves (not likely)
2) does great and gets grabbed by D-1 school (have to be Michigan, FSU, Miami or Penn State, everybody knows he won’t move in the Big 12) = he did so great at A&M that they are willing to pay him more (not likely #2)
3) does great and gets grabbed by NFL = he did so great at A&M that they are willing to pay him more

How are any of these Fran leaves situations bad for us? The only one that is bad is case #1, which even you wronghorns admit isn’t likely.

OK- Let's say Fran goes 8 or 9 in the next 3 years straight. FSU or Florida come knocking with $$$$$.

I say he leaves just like he did at Alabama.

The difference is that Alabama was on "double secret probation" & didn't tell Fran of all violations that were being investigated when he was hired. Fran felt betrayed. Football legacy wise, Alabama has A&M beat & I think most Aggies will agree. But situation wise (not to be confused with money wise) A&M was a much better opportunity. That being said, he if takes us where we want to go, there isn't a school in the nation that would outbid us for his services. And on top of that, if he gets us where we want to go, then the legacy that us aggies have always hoped for when talking Aggie football will be a reality & there any move he would make would be a lateral move at best. Unless he goes to the NFL & that situation has already been discussed. I remember not too long ago when Butch Davis left for the NFL & it seems that Miami's program is still going strong without him.

Will Florida's stellar recruiting class translate into a championship team?
NO, Ron Zook will be the next Mack Brown!

sips are already talking about Franchione leaving A&M because they know Franchione will be at A&M for a long, long time, probably until he desires to retire, which means tu will be Texas A&M's number 1 beyatch for a long, long time

Anything that Ridiculed-on-Earth writes becomes an instant cult classic, sort of like a really bad sci-fi film.

But seriously...three games into his tenure and tsips are already trying this bogus "what if he leaves?" crap.

They are really scared.

Let FSU of UF come knocking...then it's back to the maroon drawing board.

Hmmmm....maybe it's because Southwestern, Pittsburg State, SWT, New Mexico, and TCU aren't places you hang around at for very long if you have enough success that other people want you. He would have been at Alabama for a long time if it weren't for the probation hell the previous regime put them in. Again, the only reason places like UF or FSU would want Fran is if he elevates A&M to the highest level of college football and if he does that, why would he want to leave and coach in the shadows of Bowden and Spurrier when he has his own legacy here?

As a side note, I think it's pretty funny how everyone is trying to run Bowden out of FSU because of two subpar years, one where they posted a convincing Gator Bowl win and one where they won the ACC. Besides, if Bowden does leave for some reason, they'll go after Mark Richt or Chuck Amato.

Also hmmmmmmmm ... Fran has coached THREE games at TAMU and already the sips are hoping he'll leave.

Much like they reacted with glee that Bob Stoops was considered for other head coaching positions after winning a NC in his second year, and reacted with horror that he stayed at OU.

Guess they're just trying to rationalize continuing medocrity at Utex.

Worry about your own coach, while your at it go ahead and track Sacks progress in his tenure at t.u...... it should look familiar to a coach we let go last year. OH WAIT, except Sack has done NOTHING with the talent in terms of championships. YEAH, YEAH, YEAH 2 straight 11 win seasons, no one cares except sips....

So true....Coach Fran is a Frantastic coach; but he will probably do no better than Slocum did. Is he going to change the name of the Wrecking Crew since that was a Slocum nick-name?
