The Land Thieves went into Alabama and came back victorious. Their coach grabbed all the glory with a Mackovic-like call so all are happy in the wasteland. The Big XII looked good again.

The thirteen-point underdog Houston Texans proved the irrelevancy of preseason records once again. They gaffed the overconfident Super Bowl bound Miami Dolphins with a vastly improved offense that experienced NO, that's ZERO, sacks, a legitimate running game, and excellent performances by their receivers and defense. Our QB is a given; he's prepared, tough, and competent. The Texans' coaches exhibited patience and wisdom in their playcalling, and the the kicker was clutch. Look out, Cajun Ag, we're coming to crush Crescent City next. You might want to motivate that listless team a little, or you could end up 0-2.

Priest Holmes got a big contract, and KC got their money's worth. Fair trade.

Oh, and Tech managed a win against New Mexico, delaying us trading them for Ruidoso, Tomasino's in Santa Fe, and a Mescalero to be named later.

I don't think the Texas shut down Ricky, I think it was more that the Coordinator shut down Ricky.

In all fairness, Ricky looked good. He had a run for about 50 yards in which he broke about 3 tackles, that was called back for a hold by the dolphin tight end. He caught a pass and ran over Matt Stevens in the open field for a 35 yrd touchdown. Ricky was shut down by a sorry display of Miami coaching. They only gave the ball to Ricky 17 times.

Ricky looked okay. He had close to 130 yds evenly divided between rushing and receiving. He coughed it up once but scored on a breakaway run.

The performance of the Texans' O-Line was the biggest positive Sunday, and both of the running backs were superior to the talent we had last year. The defense is stout for a second year expansion teams.

The Tuna's Qowboys stunk up the joint. I think he will have to tear them down further and rebuild, and I don't think he an Jurry will get along long enough for him to do it. Disaster in Big D looms large.

I'm not sure the dignity of the Big XII remains in tact as long as loser schools like Gaylor continue getting spanked by schools like North Texas.

North Texas, or I guess the "Mean Green", as they at least used to like to be called, brings to mind the scenario of an athletic director looking for a quality opponent like Dr. Evil wanting sharks with laser beams in Austin Powers.

Instead, he gets sea bass, which he hopes are ill tempered. The "Ill-tempered Green". Gaylor is a disgrace to this conference, in every possible way.

A victory on opening day two years in a row. Whoop dee doo! I think Miami was a wee bit overconfident as they probably should have been. I thought Dallas always overspent on teams until I realized Houston has spent over $1.5 Billion so far.

Mikey - We didn't spend $1.5 billion for a football team. We spent it to get rid of Bud Adams, and it was a hell of a good deal. Dallas would be wise to spend it to get rid of Jones. They won't get better until they do.

Baylor is a disaster, but the SEC has Vandy, the Big Ten has Indiana, the Pac 10 has Arizona (Gosh, I wish we could have kept Mackovic ), and the other conferences have more than one weak sister. Baylor at least has a new coach who was competent in his last position.

Ricky looked good. Mark my words, he'll play both ways before the season is over. The last guy to do so was Dion Sanders, I believe. Ricky will do it and he'll look damn good.

VR Horn - Parcells doesn't like rookie QB's; he's looking for a vet to trade for. After the middle of the season, he might be able to get one from a team that's out of it. I doubt Henson will give up the Yankees' money, so he'll have to wait until they cut him. He's getting his chance right now, but if he couldn't hit in the minors, he's not likely to light up the American League. He'll probably wait and go through the next draft, but I'll bet he goes football then.

Ricky hasn't played both ways since high school when all studs do occasionally, and he not about to now. I assume you are talking about two positions in football. If you are talking about his baseball career, it's a dead letter. Couldn't foul off a fast ball when he was guessing curve, and vice versa.
