It worked with BCG when he replaced Watson. And it worked for Fran at all his previous stops. But, the reason it failed for BCG at Kentucky and for Fran at A&M is two fold.
At Kentucky the team was full of prima donna super stars who weren't going to put up with that **** (read: the sips). It failed at A&M because RC already was a discipline guy. Anybody remember how mad he got at the public address announcer for announcing Sammy Davis as Sammy "Candy Man" Davis? Also, the Ags didn't want their coach fire and hadn't had a losing season in 15 years. Players don't buy-in to bull**** under those conditions.
The Fran, Strong, BCG type coaching style works at a very specific type of program, with a specific history, and player roster. That **** won't fly with sip players.
