As many of you know, this Friday and Saturday, I'm going to break character and do something really idiotic for an old, fat, crippled guy like me to do. I will be playing in a Guiness Record 24 hour long flag football game to benefit the Mercy Project, an endeavor championed by a wonderful guy and fellow Texags poster, Chris Field.
I encourage you....beg you....to go to their website at mercyproject.net to read about this charity. Chris and his charity are helping enslaved children in Ghana by rescuing these kids, proving education to those who "buy" these young kids and economically developing the communities in which they live.
Chris and the website can tell you more about the project. I'm here to ask for help. Each player has their own stated goals of what they want to raise for this worthy charity. I'm trying to set the bar higher.
I'm asking you guys to sponsor me as a player. All you have to do is take a quick second to click on the link and make your tax deductible donation today. If you prefer, you can make a pledge on this thread for every hour I make it, you'll donate a certain amount (up to and including 24 hours).

Rivalries is known across college athletics to be a message board where we enjoy smack talking and defaming and going all out to be fun and humorous. But what many don't realize is that the regular posters here are friends for the most part. As your friend, and as someone who doesn't do this type of thing often, I'm asking you to support this awesome charity.
If pledges from the board reach a total of a hundred bucks per hour, I will post every hour during the game with updates on my fat old body.
If any one individual pledges an amount per hour of how long I make it that exceeds ten bucks an hour, you get the rights to my signature here for a month.
If any one individual pledges an amount that exceeds 25 bucks an hour, you get to rename me for a month.
If anyone reaches a hundred bucks an hour, you get to rename me permanently and provide my permanent signature.
You also get a free night on the town with Annie. I'll spring for a lovely chicken dinner for the two of you.
