Losing Westerman sucks, no doubt about it, but by no means was he the #1 recruit in this class.

Just so I'm clear: Texas has its worst season in forever, experiences massive turnover in the coaching staff, and loses one recruit out of twenty-something to the national champions, thereby dropping from #1 to #2 overall in recruiting class rankings.

aTm has its best season in forever, loses no coaches, and loses a recruit to the TicketCity Bowl champs.

This is a very big deal.

Given all the turmoil our coaching staff has weathered in the past 2 months, I'll be happy if this is the only defection we have. Mack has dodged plenty of bullets from last-minute decommits over the years - and as long as he continues to recruit the best in the nation this won't be his last. I never wish bad things upon these kids that decide to go elsewhere, but I have a hard time believing Auburn is out of the woods on this whole Newton "pay-for-play" ordeal.

I'm relieved. While Westerman was an excellent prospect, UT has 5 other OLinemen committed and there was a worriesome aspect to his recruitment. I read somewhere that his parents were planning to move to whatever town the school was in that signed him. Maybe they're rich and can do what they want, but I did see possibilities of problems there that I didn't like. I'd rather Auburn deal with that situation than UT.

Westerman has family which lives in alexander city alabama. 40 miles from auburn, maybe that's what you heard. How his family moving is a negative point to his recruitment is beyond me though

A few days? Try being in the works for a few weeks. It's hard to pull in these OOS blue-chippers with the chnge going on. Wish him the best and it opens up a spot for another. Heard Hatten will be given another look?

And with this loss, it looks like Rasco the stud DE is back on the radar due to his relationship with Davis was was recruiting him heavily at Alabama. We'll see.

I'm not making any excuses, but that was easily the best LSU had played the entire year. They executed very, very well. Not to mention their talent and depth.

Anyway, not surprising to see you take a shot at us. I'm sure you were glad that LSU won. We beat the f*** out of you though. I'm glad you acknowledged that.

Wareagle - What I read is what I posted. When he was committed to UT, they were going to move to Austin. I know nothing about the family. As I posted, they may be rich enough to do what they want when they want. However, it looked like a situation I didn't like. There's enough good football players in Texas for UT to have a good team without going out of state. I'd just as soon they did.
