Looking for recommendations on an estate attorney to help with property inheritance. My wife has inherited a percentage of 4 real estate properties(one homestead, 3 rentals with current tenants), and we are looking for a lawyer to help with getting appraisals/fair market values for a possible buyout of her shares.

Getting push back from one of the other property owners that there is no need to get a current appraisal on the properties for the buyout, but just use the tax assessed value.

Yeah man, don't use assessed value. I deal with so many people who legitimately believe assessed value equals market value and that is not the case. Sorry I don't have much to offer on the local probate attorney front. But you are on the right path. Don't let that person gaslight you on the assessed value thing.

HillCountry: It appears you are looking at a partition of interests owned as tenants in common. There would be several different avenues that you could use to resolve your situation. It us usually best to try to resolve the value of the "shares" without court intervention. However, Texas has very specific statutes to deal with these kinds of matters if the owners can't agree on the value of the shares. Feel free to post your contact information if you would like to discuss in more detail.
