Anyone here with enough experience to say if they are

  • very
  • pretty close
  • not very

accurate?

Looking to live outside of Houston if we get transferred but I'd hate to screen possible houses with bad data. Thanks in advance for any replies!

More accurate than vbro listings on distance to attractions. Less accurate that plugging it into Google maps.

Yeah just use Google maps. Check the drive time when you would normally leave the house in the morning and office in the afternoon and see what it says each way. Do it every day so you can get a realistic picture.

Sorry to be the one to tell you, but Houston is full. Have you tried El Paso?

It's accurate in terms of general time to get there on that route. But it doesn't take into account a weekday morning traffic route that gets congested because there's four school zones and a daily accident.

First, agree with above, use google maps and do a scheduled drive so you can put in 7 am / 5 pm and get a more accurate idea of rush hour drive times.

But....it can still vary wildly depending on the freeway and what rush hour traffic it sees..... I recently moved and my office is in the Galleria, which has me taking 610 from Oak Forest. Google Maps/Apple Maps/Waze all consistently say 23 minutes. Some times that's right, some times it's 50 minutes. It's inaccurate often enough that I just take side streets every morning.
