How long do you want to ignore this user?
Not sure if I should post this here or in Home Improvement. We are looking to build a new home and have come up with a 5 bedroom floor plan. We'd like to group three of the bedrooms together for our three girls and have them share one larger bathroom, then have a separate bathroom with the guest room. The guest room will be in a separate part of the house, and that bathroom will be accessible for guests, company, etc. Just looking for some feedback on grouping the three rooms together with one bath. Thanks!

Ed Froehling here in CS has some efficient 5 bedroom plans. Not sure of the size and style of home you are after but you might check them out for ideas.

1 bathroom for three girls getting ready every day seems like a disaster in the making. Any way you can add at least another one by the girls' rooms?

Thanks. Froehling's plans typically have two rooms share a bath. We really don't want a guest to share a bath with one of our girls.

I think we were hoping if we made the area with the sinks big enough, it would compensate for them sharing one bathroom. The toilet and tub area would have a door. Maybe we should rethink it!

I know someone in BCS that has that exact layout fir 5 bedrooms, but for 3 boys with a locker room style bathroom with 2 toilets and 2 showers.

Email me and I can put you in touch with them and maybe they'd share the floor plan.

That sounds badass! Never heard of such a thing. My wife shared a normal jack & Jill bathroom with her three sisters for years. She would be very jealous.

If you do that consider putting closets and sinks (with mirror of course) in each room with one shared shower/toilet.

Maybe not the most attractive setup but it would be much more usable.

eeh, one bathroom per bedroom. If you're building a home, the cost of a simple bathroom is fairly negligible, and, in the end, you'll be happy you did this, as will your daughters. If nothing else, do a jack and jill for 2 rooms - each with their own toilet and vanity, and share a shower/bath.

If you're ever planning on selling this house, I wouldn't have 3 bedrooms share one bathroom.

Not sure if you're planning one or two story, but our house has the guest suite on the first floor. Now we only have the two bedrooms upstairs and our boys share a bath there. I think if we had another bedroom, I'd put a jack and jill between two of the rooms.

We love the first floor guest room. It's easier for our parents, since stairs are difficult for them, and when we have other guests, they don't have to worry about being quiet after the kids are asleep.

Also, our master suite is down stairs, and if one of the kids is sick, I can keep them in the guest room, closer to me, and with a bathroom attached.

It's worked well.

Here's the floor plan.
