I know this varies by area, but what are custom builders typically charging to build custom homes in and around Houston?

We're looking at 3800 - 4000 square feet in the next couple of years, so I'm trying to get an idea of what that may run us, on average.

Depending on finish you can build a pretty nice house for $100 psf not including the the price of the land.

Were building with Design Tech in spring right now. With upgrades and what not were at 100 per square foot. We have like 30 k in upgrades though, so we wouldve been at around 90 per sq ft. Most of our upgrades were in bigger porches, a carport and driveway

I looked into this a few months ago. We talked to a couple builders and $100/sf is doable depending on finishes. Also 1 story vs 2 story on a house that size can swing the price by $10/sf. We were estimating in the $110 range for a 2800s.f. house just to make sure we had enough to cover anything that might come up during construction.

I usually tell people around $110.

$100/sq.ft. is probably unrealistic right now....for me anyway.

I would like to, but I'm afraid the commute would be a little much.

The building requirements are much different in California. I saw a show where they were building metal bracing in the walls to minimize movement due to earthquakes. There were also many other requirements that seemed odd by Texas standards.

For lack of a better term, CA is stupid. That's why they're bankrupt. My town of 90,000 I believe has 5 separate school districts...my county is the largest employer...in the county. And they wonder why they're broke ....

Bring on some TX... I just hired an AG c/o 99. WHOOP!

I paid 124.60 for 2568 sq. ft. My builder was Jimmy Jacobs. If you take out the 20k spent on landscaping and sprinkler system it was 116.82. This is in Georgetown (Austin)

I would be more than happy to meet and discuss it with you. We build custom homes in all price points from $90/sqft and up depending on what you are looking for. I can also show you homes in each of the price points so that you have better understanding of different finish levels and construction applications.
