It's a damn shame our WBB coach of ten years has to beg for support....we should all be embarrassed.

Color me unimpressed with the student body most of the time. Yes, they show up, eventually, at football games. But 10 minutes to kickoff there will be substantial empty seats in the student section. I think they need to be there for the Spirit and the National Anthem. Perhaps the priorities of the current students are different from those in the past.

I agree, it is unfortunate. A lot of folks were late to jump on the bandwagon the season we won the National Championship. It will be a shame if the team ends up doing something special again this year, or even next year, and the same thing happens. It's been so much fun to watch the improvement and growth of this team! And the future is bright...

Coach Blair's plea in writing to the students in the Batt 5 yrs ago is how our group got started...we started that year with 21 going to a tceh home game, and then bought tickets for the rest of the conf home games on weeknights...next year got 28 season tickets...then 32 season tickets the next year....has grown to 45 season tickets this year...we call it the Class of '69 Family & Friends Group. 5 rows with 9 abreast in section 108. it is fun having a large group of all classmates & friends! Not everyone makes every game and so we usually have extra tickets for other family members visiting, other classmates in town, etc. It has worked really, really well!

Students today seem to identify less with the university as a whole and more to their frats, sororities, clubs, off campus activities , etc. I would think someone in our world class business school would get of the marketing students to design marketing plans to tap into that reality. Obviously appealing to school pride isn't working.

Unfortunately, those that are not coming to the games are probably also not reading this forum. And it seems that begging the students to come and trying to shame them into coming doesn't work.

I think starting off 0-3 and getting beat so badly by UConn probably made the casual fan decide we weren't so good this year. Once a casual fan comes and sees a bad game, it's hard to get them back. Hopefully if we get to the Sweet 16 or Elite 8 this year, it will help next year's attendance.

And after seeing some random women's games on TV, our crowd is probably nothing to be that embarrassed about. Yes, I would love for there to be at least 7,500 people at every game and bigger crowds for the marquee games. But, that is probably never going to happen, unless we turn into UConn (ALWAYS ranked in Top 5, never lose more than 5 games a year, etc., etc.)

I'm embarrassed. But I promise you the students who do go love this team and will have their backs regardless. I hope tonight goes well. Men's game last night had very few students. Attendance has been down for non-football stuff this year.
