Texas is kind of a big state. Might want to post a city if you want a local rec you can meet with in person.

You can do this with quickbooks payroll fairly simply without much if any help. You don't have to have your book on quickbooks for you to run payroll and payroll taxes.

I would recommend Sure Payroll. They are low cost, file everything with state and federal, and you can do payroll in 5 minutes once everything is setup, which takes 1-2 days with setup and bank account confirmation.

You can setup weekly, bi weekly payroll, direct deposit in 2 days, but we usually see it in our accounts afternoon of next day, instead of the 2nd day.

Quickbooks payroll can do it as well, for $120 per month. Sure Payroll is $29 per month + $7 each worker, unlimited payrolls, everything filed for you, reports can be printed to give to CPA at end of year. 1099 contractors too.

Your pricing on QB payroll is very wrong. Not sure what you think you saw but these two are very comparable in price unless you buy a higher tier of QB that includes their time system and full HR service. For basic payroll the the difference is $21/month base and the per employee is identical.

We have quickbooks pro desktop for my other company and pay over $100 per month. I didn't set it up so have no idea what level we have, but I do know it is expensive.

Ah, got it. They're trying to get rid of desktop so they've jacked the price way up. I'm surprised you still have payroll available on Pro. Those payroll subs are priced a lot different than their online subs and I don't know the methodology to be honest. I think payroll itself in desktop is like $800/year and QB itself is around $500. That seems to fit your math pretty well.

That's actually a severe understatement. For a company I'm winding down, QB Desktop has gone from $350 software you could buy from Amazon or Best Buy and was good for 3 years before an upgrade was required, to $1200 annual subscription 3 years ago, to $1500, and now $1700 this May. Kind of unconscionable, in my mind.

Before someone chimes in that QB online is much cheaper, it wouldn't convert over customer history, job costing, or any other than basic history, which was not viable for this business, as QB was used as a rudimentary CRM.

I'm done with Intuit for any future ventures.

However, the desktop version of Intuit payroll has not increased similarly (for me, at least) during this time. I believe they're separate business units with their own pricing decisions - payroll is a much more competitive space, I guess.
