What type of resolutions/goals are y'all setting for 2021 specific to business, finance, or career? Might be fun to put some specifics here and bump the thread occasionally for a checkup.

I'm still working on my list.

Buy more BTC, limit crypto trading. My tax liability for 2021 is ridiculous.

Which comes first? That's a tough one! Good luck there.

I want to quit first and take 3-6 months off while planning what to do. I can't hire anyone I work with for six months anyway. Wife doesn't want me to not work though. We will see.

This may seem counter to some on this board, but my goal this year is to NOT check in on my finances. I've done well to automate my savings & investments, my budget is pretty static, I don't have big expected purchases or life changes this year.

But all of that was true last year and I still constantly checked portfolios, reran FIRE calcs, etc. This year, I think it'll relieve a mental burden if I learn to let go. I've deleted financial apps from my phone and am going to try to limit to a check in in June and December and just live my life.

Don't buy a stock because somebody on Texags posts about it without first seeing WTF it is.

I would like to build other income streams outside of my job.

I have some ideas, but I'm going to start with publishing some apps, after picking up a new code language beyond python.

I will learn to develop apps. I am not sure where this will lead ultimately, but this is step one. Wife and I have some ideas here. This skill will also open other career doors if I want to shift into development, but I'm pretty happy with what I'm doing for now.

I'm about 14 months ahead of you as of right now.

My goals for the year:
  • Start working full-time again (I "early retired" in 2020).
  • Try to save at least 80% of that income, so I don't have to work full-time for very long.
  • Buy 3/4 more of BTC so that I own 1 BTC. This is purely a psychological/completion goal.
  • Grow our taxable investment account by 20%. This would primarily be driven by contributions we make.
  • Try to keep my wife from acting on her normal "it's been 4 years, so I need a different car" cycle.

I've shifted my mindset away from FIRE to FI. This is a reaping year rather than a sowing year. I'm investing more into my business to turn it into a company that will last beyond my involvement.

1) Build data backend and move all reports to PowerBI
2) Integrate AP automation
3) Hire 2 FTEs for business development
4) Reduce capital account balance to zero
5) Close all the checklists!

By the end of the year I believe I will have created processes and infrastructure that we can scale 10x without slowing down.
