Don't murder me for asking as I'm very very new to investing but is a few hundred dollars thrown at JCP a total 100% waste? Meaning is there any chance they see some sorta come back, saving, or buy out (obviously Amazon talk is out there but I think it'll remain just talk).

Yeah it's a waste if you are looking to hold long term. But who knows these days, non-fallen angels are finding no strings attached Fed "liquidity" in this market.

They are a very short term lottery ticket. They may have been delisted so you may not have the option. They filed for bankruptcy, and in all likelihood, existing equity holders will be wiped out. Someone who understands the bankruptcy process can chime in on the odds of shareholders receiving anything from the bankruptcy process (my guess is extremely low).

There is talk Amazon is interested in acquiring JCP, but I would assume it is part of the liquidation/restructuring plan and proceeds don't make it past debtors.

If you're going to gamble on bankruptcy stocks trying to be clever, your odds are far better just reading the stock market board and following the option trades being discussed.

The Amazon rumors are still swirling. Supposedly Bezos was conveniently visiting an Amazon warehouse in Dallas today too... why else would he be here... Hmmm.

Bezos can get anything he wants in BK court. He has no interest in bailing out JCP sh.

My initial thought is Amazon could want them purely for the real estate/physical locations if they want to develop a brick and mortar presence. They've already got the lockers and such scattered around for small package secure delivery, though I don't know if malls are where they want to be for brick and mortar though JCP does have a few stand alone stores.

JCP should have been Amazon. Great catalog business then ****ed it all up letting the world pass it by
