Stock Picking Challenge



Cost: $10 per person, Venmo or Zelle preferred but will accept cash.



Goal: To achieve the highest dollar value at the end of the game



Rules:



Each person picks two stocks and each stock will have a starting value of $100 regardless of the price per share. We are tracking total return.



The game will start with stock prices at the close of 3/20/2020.



You must have your picks submitted to James by 4 PM on 3/20/20.



The game will end 12/31/2020 to give time for a brief market recovery.



Only long stock purchases are allowed, no ETFs, no options, no bonds, you get the point, keep it traditional.



The player with the highest dollar value at the end of the game is the winner. The winner receives the entire pot and significant bragging rights in the office.

tracking total return as a $ amount? i.e. if a stock goes from $300-310, it "wins" over a stock that goes from $20-29?

I was actually about to say both of those before I read your picks. I like them both and a lot of room to move up.

Can you get into one and then sell it to get in another? You may have mentioned that, but Amazon would be my pick if you could buy then sell and get into Disney or Roku. Amazon is about to crush earnings. Lots of new subscribers out there.

Only 1 winner, roll the dice on some penny stocks or battered bankruptcy candidate and hope for the best

This. If it's a large pool of people and only the top gets the payout, aim for high risk/reward type stocks.

Smallish pool. Likely like 10 or so. Pot is more for bragging rights like $100 or so.

With ten, no need to go for anything too crazy. A few names to throw out... AMZN, CVX, EPD, BRK.B. Maybe look at some Chinese companies.

ONTX based and has look to move back to previous basing before the debacle virus hit. Don't think it breaks to retest the $0.60's but maybe makes a play to $0.42 which is still a decent ROI. That previous basing becomes resistance.
