Ive had a pool for DECADES and have had 4-5 different homeowners policies with the big 4-5 of the biggest companies...NONE of them required a fence...NONE of them even offered a discount..they couldn't care less. a few cities require a pool fence but thats it.

i thought the state of Texas required a fence?

I think the difference is a "pool fence" v. a six foot "privacy fence". A lot of insurance companies require a "fence" around the pool. If you have a privacy fence on your property line, and the pool falls within that fence, it most likely meets the criteria.

Hell, we had a major insurance company that wouldn't write a policy on our house because they wanted us to put a six foot privacy fence around our pond.

My parents' house in DFW doesn't have a fence around it, neither does the yard. But they live on 3 acres.

Our Insurance requires a fence and a privacy fence can qualify. We were looking at a house on 5 acres and they did not require a fence because the pool had a 6" wall around it and was not accessible because of the distance to the closest neighbor
