Been in contact with a prospective employer in the area. Anyone with thoughts on the area? Pros/cons?

Beaches are nice. Traffic cops are brutal. Not a bustling town (which can be a good thing). USAF base and NASA are close by. Orlando airport is a little over an hour.

Lived there for 10 months. It's definitely a nice area and has a lot of tech & defense jobs. If you're into the ocean, there is plenty to do. I wasn't a fan so I felt like I had to work hard to find things to do. My demographic (recent grad, no kids) might have played a role in that.

Personally never had any issues with traffic cops though I did mostly stick to the interstate. Anything specific you're looking for?

Situation is picking up steam.

My demographic is married with kids. Any ideas on good neighborhoods?

I lived in an apartment so I'm not all too familiar with the various neighborhoods. Kinda depends where you are going to be working. I had a few coworkers live in the Viera/Rockledge/Suntree area and they seemed to like it. You probably don't want anything near the university (Florida Tech). If you have the opportunity to visit before accepting an offer, I would recommend it.

Yeah, big hiring boom, and won't have any chance to visit before the offer likely crosses my desk on Monday. Spoke to a relo specialist yesterday, where the conversation was basically, "What will it take (salary and relo package) to get you here?" It's a bit of an odd situation, at least from my perspective.

Well, you're a step ahead of where I was when I moved there. I just picked a place and winged it.

Most of my coworkers were my parents' age with kids so I felt like an odd man out. If you have a family, I'm sure you'll fit in fine.

Best of luck!
