Give me the Low Down on Anchorage. I am likely moving there for work in the next 2-3 months... where should I buy a house, what should I look for and what do I need that I would not have in Texas!

Also, the GF is a band director for highschool, anyone with a connection to the schools there that I can get her in touch with would be a tremendous help!

Lived there decades ago on a 6 month assignment. It was great. Lots to do outdoors. If you're not the outdoors type, you will be. Find something to do during the winter to avoid cabin fever.
