Rock and mineral museum sounds dorky, but it is top notch! Great memories with the kids! Got some good delis as well. D Deli is hole in the wall, but never been to a place so small with so many different choices for sandwiches.

Coming for Turnpike?
I like Golden for out of towners (I live just a couple exits south of Red Rocks). D Deli has been mentioned and it's really solid. I'll add Bobs Atomic Burgers and Woodys Pizza down there too. Cannonball Creek Brewing has some good beer.

When we went to a concert at Red Rocks we stayed in Evergreen at the Highland Haven Creekside Inn. Sorry it's not what you asked for but it was convenient to RR, pretty nice, and some elk roamed around

Is there a recommended shuttle/bus from Denver? Or Boulder, for that matter.

There are often shuttles from downtown Denver to red rocks for large events. Usually they work well and give you a lot more options to stay and eat.

Until recently, we've always stayed at the Origin hotel when we go to RR concerts. It's nice, and it is REALLY close. But lately we've been staying at a really cool Airbnb in Evergreen. It's a little farther away, but it's great to have a kitchen and the mountain views are incredible!

We'll be there too!

I already booked two rooms at The Eddy for May 13-17, but looking at AirBnB's instead. 3 adults and 2 kids trying to stay in Golden.

Appreciate all the food/attraction suggestions so far.

I keep thinking one of these days the entertainment industry is gonna hit a wall, but it hasn't happened yet.

Concert tickets for bands like Turnpike used to run you like $30-40 tops on an expensive night. Hell I don't think I paid more than $20 for a concert. And oddly enough I think its kinda killing off smaller acts.

We went and saw the Casey Donahew Band over the weekend for $30 at Toyota Music Pavilion in DFW and they had to shrink the seating area and upgrade everyone to either pit or fron section seats because none of those sections sold (because they were priced at $80-100).

It's def. not everyone.

The best way I can describe it is it's the 'trendy' acts that are blowing up in price. Or in this case, a trendy venue. Red rocks is always pricey.

I saw it first hand. 2 consecutive years, incubus came to town doing an album play through of morning view. Once at ball arena, where I got in for $50. The other year, red rocks, cheapest ticket I saw was $150. And ball arena was first in 2024, so it's not like any fan knew they would come again in 2025 when red rocks happened. I could understand if the timeline were flipped and red rocks happened first.

I thought about going to see goose at red rocks a bit back. Same thing, sold out, cheapest tickets a few hundred. I'd bet on my life that if they came to fiddlers green, I could pick up a lawn seat for ~$75.

I still pick up tix all the time for $50, at large venues like the arena... but it's not trendy stuff. A lot of legacy and/or hard rock and metal. But even that genre isn't immune.. Sleep token came to red rocks, tix price skyrocketed, then a year later, came to ball arena, same thing. Nose bleeds at $200.

Because they are trendy. I don't know how to else to describe it.

Look at metallica. Their normal shows in the last few years at stadiums, you could get in way up all high day for $60-$80. But at the sphere? Forget it, cheap seats are $300+. Venue is as trendy as it gets.

Red Rock is one of my bucket list venues along with Hollywood Bowl.
On ticket prices, I was front row Rolling Stones in 74 or 75 in San Antonio. Paid the outrageous sum of $10 for ticket.
Fast forward a few and wife insisted on seeing Bruce Springsteen and we paid $800 for pit.

Even at a much smaller scale, location matters....Pat Green is playing the Haute Spot in Leander this weekend for $40.....in December he is playing Gruene Hall for $100

I also think you have to look at the ticket prices from the venue vs secondary market. I got two tickets for Turnpike at Red Rocks for $85/ea through the venue. If you're looking for tickets now, after the shows sold out, you're looking at secondary scalpers.

I looked last week when they first went on sale. Didn't see anything less than $300 each through the venue.

I too think the trendy artists are blowing up while the mid level is getting crushed. Like middle class restaurants. Fast food and high end are crushing it

Mine were GAs I got through the venue....I guess that's the third piece of the equation - where you're willing to be in the arena

Is there a usual date where the majority of next year's concerts are scheduled and the dates released? Seeing a show at red rocks would be a nice to-do for next year.

they already have a lot of '27 shows schedule, up to a year out.

They don't release a big batch of shows at once; they just release them as tours are scheduled. I get a red rocks email maybe once every 6-8 weeks highlighting newly announced shows.
