It's super walkable, so most of the highlights are right in town, the Parroquia and Jardin, Fabrica La Aurora for galleries and art studios, El Charco del Ingenio botanical garden, and El Mirador for sunset views. The food scene is incredible, as expected.
Outside town, it's worth a half-day trip to Atotonilco (painted church, sometimes called the Sistine Chapel of Mexico). You can pair it with a visit to the hot springs nearby, or a day trip to Dolores Hidalgo for history and ceramics.
I haven't personally done them yet (hope to next time), but there are a couple wineries that my friends have liked (Vinedo San Miguel and Cuna de Tierra).
I'd plan on 4 days, a couple days to explore town at a relaxed pace, plus one for a day trip out. Streets are cobblestone and hilly, so comfy shoes are a must.
Fave hotels are Rosewood, Sierra Nevada and Hotel Matilda.
Happy to answer questions or help with the trip if you're looking for it.
