I'm planning a month in Italy next summer and am considering spending 7 days in Perugia as a base for Umbria. Has anyone been there before? Is it a good option for a solo traveler without a car?

I also plan to spend a week in Arezzo and a couple of weeks in Sicily. I've been to most of the must-see spots around Tuscany, so I'm looking for something a little different this time.
