Looking to go to the Bahamas for christmas this year, and I was wondering if anyone had recs on the best places to stay with kids ranging from 5-13. TIA

It really depends on your budget and what you're looking for in your vacation.

If you're considering the Bahamas, my top recommendation is the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar. It's an outstanding family-friendly resort with beautiful beaches, multiple pools, a fantastic water park, and plenty of activities for both kids and adults. The one thing to keep in mind is that it isn't all-inclusive, so dining and activities can add up.

Just out of curiosity, is there a particular reason you're set on the Bahamas? Depending on what you're hoping to experience, there may be other Caribbean destinations that offer even better value, especially if you're interested in an all-inclusive resort.

If you'd like, I'd be happy to help you compare options and find the best fit for your family and budget. Feel free to reach out anytime!

I agree, Baha Mar is the best for families. Atlantis is good too but reviews have done downhill over the years.

Both are very pricey once you consider in food and drinks.

There will be a Beaches in Exuma there eventually but it's not set to open til late 2027 I think.

For those ages I'd third Baha Mar.

At Atlantis right now. In the coral tower and it is kinda run down. Kids had fun at the water park and we will have a full day of it tomorrow. The aquariums are really cool. The main tower and casino are very nice. Beds are nice and air conditioning is adequate. If you want Atlantis, and you can swing it, stay in the main tower or the other one. Nothing wrong with the coral, just kinda run down. Other than that, this place is pretty great.

We rented a car. It is driving on the left side of the road, but the car they rented is was American style left hand drive. Kinda weird, but no big deal. I don't know how much they will charge me for valet, but taxis are reportedly $100 from the airport to Atlantis. We have a few days in a vrbo on the west side of the island, so the car will be more important there.

Thank you all of the responses, I really do appreciate it.

As for why the Bahama's? My daughter requested it, so we are trying to make it happen.

We have been to Belize twice over the last few years, and for the older kids and us it was amazing. For the young ones there wasn't a lot they could do but hang out on the beach, so looking for more resort type deal to accommodate everyone.

Kind if the same situation but my motivation is i simply have never been to Bahamas. No preference on where just really want great beaches. Water park isn't necessary and dont need highest end resort. Would rather enjoy the beach and relax

That's sad that it's going downhill. Are they just not updating, or what? My wife grew up in the Bahamas for a period of time and wanted to see it again, so we went to Atlantis for my birthday 11 years ago. It was absolutely perfect for our 10 year-old son and his cousins.

They are updating now so I'm sure things are getting better. But yes, just not updating for the most part.

We are wrapping up a week on Exuma and fly home tomorrow. If you truly enjoy beautiful water and trips with some effort involved this is for you. We've loved it. If you are expecting people to cater to you, fabulous restaurants, and amenities, this isn't the trip for you. It's one of those trips that reinforces the difference between 1st world and. developing nations but the scenery more than makes up for it. I can get great restaurants all over Houston. I can't get water this blue, this temp, and no one on the pretty of a beach remotely close to Houston.
