Any recommendations on camping near Wheeler Peak?

I see some BLM campgrounds on 150 on the way to Taos Ski Valley, but they appear to only three or so first-come-first-serve sites. Any other options you are aware of? TIA

I stayed at Taos Canyon Stop RV Park. Just a nice little low key place with full hookups. I ran straight up the hills for morning run, and even head up the mountain to Angel Fire for a 10 miler one morning. Close to Taos and Angel Fire. We rode the lift in Angel Fire (me and 4 kids), hiked Wheeler Peak, hung out in Taos, went to the Rio Grande River Gorge, did a float trip on the Rio Grande, and visited Red River. Campground made a nice, safe, base location.

94chem,
That, sir, was the greatest post in the history of TexAgs. I salute you. -- Dough

Garcia park between Taos and Angel Fire is an incredible place to camp, but it is still at least an hour to the wheeler peak trailhead, probably 1.5 hours. As a bonus, the South Boundary Trail runs right through Garcia Park so you can ride you MTBs there as well.
