Looking at a family flight to Italy this summer. Non-stop from IAH to Rome on ITA is not just the only non-stop for the dates we want but also $500 cheaper than United/American, etc. with a layover. Any reason I wouldn't book ITA?

I have no experience, but I looked them up just yesterday for clients. Just know they charge for seat fees, so you need to factor that into your pricing. I guess once I went through the process, it wasn't that much cheaper than some of the other carriers.

I think the route starts in May. Nonstop & much cheaper seems like a no brainer to me.

That's what I thought too. Just want to make sure they're dependable and more like United/delta than spirit.

Flew them from Paris to Rome last year with no issue. It's just a rebirth of the former Alitalia Airways that was the flagship Italian carrier (think KLM, British Airways, Air France, Lufthansa, but for Italy).

Flew their business class back from Rome on our honeymoon. The food was surprisingly good. The economy seats looked nice. Flight was a little delayed but not much. Overall I would fly them again!

I fly ITA two or three times a year from MIA to FCO and back. Their business class is really good. Seats are comfortable and service is prompt and efficient. I highly recommend them.

Just to build on this with most airlines it seems. The cost of "seat fees" for some airlines are insane.

We have a flight on British Airways this year to Lisbon and then home from Barcelona. The round trip cost $700 with nonstop flights which is great. The seat fees per seat on the plane are $80-$140 depending on middle row vs window row in a 3-4-3 configuration. That is just insane to me.

And I think its asinine that you pay $200+ for seats in business class! And that was YEARS ago so I'm sure its higher.

Just booked clients on Lufthansa yesterday in Premium Economy. $2617 for PE, and then another $200 per person in seat fees. So dumb.

I try to avoid British Airways and Air Canada when I can. I hate routing my clients through London, and Air Canada has fees too.
