We've spent the past few years in Park City over Presidents' Weekend and have absolutely loved it. We're heading back again this year, but staying closer to Heber City and planning to ski Sundance, with a possible day at Deer Valley. Fingers crossed for some good snowfall in the coming weeks!
Park City can definitely be crowded especially on a holiday weekend but with two large ski areas, it's manageable if you get on the mountain early. I also recommend reserving parking in advance or using a shuttle unless you're staying ski-in/ski-out.
Before venturing to Park City, we used to go to Breckenridge. While I adore the town, the altitude was tough on our group almost everyone experienced headaches or some form of altitude sickness. Since switching to Utah, we haven't had any altitude issues at all, which has made a big difference.
Charleston is also a fun alternative! I just booked a couple there for early February to celebrate their anniversary. They're coming from Chicago and are very excited about the potential for 5060 weather.
We recently spent Thanksgiving in Scottsdale and found it to be a great mix of hiking, warmer temperatures, beautiful scenery, and excellent dining.
The Oregon Coast is another idea I was just discussing with someone for a long weekend fly into Portland and take a short drive to Cannon Beach and nearby coastal towns. The scenery is stunning, with great hiking and a charming coastal vibe.
I also love Jackson Hole for skiing, and Montana has some wonderful smaller ski resorts near Bozeman that are perfect for an easy five-day trip.
