I was going to take mama to Napa in a few weeks, but with the wildfires...and the high prices...I'm actually thinking about doing something else.

Any suggestions on good places in the US to see in September?

I was thinking possibly:

Lake Tahoe (she's never been, but I wanted her first time there to be in snow but we still might go)
Boston (neither have ever been so might be fun)
Carolinas? I've heard it's nice this time of year

any other ideas?

We are both foodies. We like all kinds of foods. She doesn't drink much but will enjoy a glass of wine on occasion. She a city girl for sure. She does like seeing pretty sites in the country, but only for the day, not an outdoor/wilderness type of person.

never a bad time to visit Lake Tahoe....and of course there's always god's county.......Jackson hole.

It's a very walkable city with so many sites to see and things to do. Great restaurants too!

Boston is an absolutely fantastic city.

We're actually in portland maine as we speak but headed to boston for the next couple of days. We're thinking about staying downtown Boston since we're first timers. Anybody have any other/better suggestions for places to stay?

Did Boston this summer along with a week in Cape Cod. Loved Boston and will definitely go back.

I always like staying in Copley/Back Bay. Central to everything. You can easily walk or use the T and plenty of hotels in the area to choose from.

we stayed on the other side of the park, but yeah you were right...easy to walk most places and we did use the T a few times!

Just got back to Panama City from San Blas. It was four of us, a captain who owned the cat and a local who caught and cooked our food. Captain has quite the life charging $1000/day sailing around the Caribbean.
