If you followed my Arizona road trip thread, this has become my "Final Destination"

Two weeks in Italy in mid November.
3-4 day in Naples
3-4 Days in Rome
3-4 days in Florence

My accommodations in Florence are already set. Need recommendations for med price hotels in Naples and Rome. Two married couples, all mid 60's.

I am pretty sure I can look at other Italy threads for tour and eateries ideas. But all ideas are welcome.
The last thing I want to do is hurt you. But, it's still on the list.

Have you been to Naples? If not, you might be disappointed. It is the armpit of Italy. 3-4 days there is way too long.

If you're looking for a jumping off point to the Amalfi Coast, pay a driver to take you to Sorrento and stay there for a few days.

A valid point. Naples is simply where we are flying into. We will probably look at staying somewhere on the peninsula. Thanks

I haven't personally stayed there, but had friends that stayed at Albergo del Senato in Rome (across the street from the Pantheon) who loved it.

We stayed at Grand Hotel La Favorita in Sorrento. It is a beautiful property.

Agreed, absolutely no reason to stay in Naples. Sorrento is a much better base for a couple of days to see Pompeii, Amalfi, etc. I assume you are doing Tuscany? 2 days is enough for Florence and you could do another couple of days in Tuscany. We stayed at Villa Cicolina outside of Montepulciano and it was incredible.

As I stated in my OP, we already have lodging in Tuscany. Staying in a town called Selvatelle which is between Florence and Pisa. Planning on seeing Florence, Pisa and going to Cinque Terre.

Florence will be our departure city when we come home

Unless you are just dying to see it and take the cheesy picture, Pisa is a huge letdown. If you go to the tower, there is literally nothing else there except some tourist trap gift shops and crappy cafes.

There are much more beautiful churches to see all over Italy.

It was a huge waste of time IMO, and I would not recommend it to anyone. And I don't say that about very many places I've traveled.

It wasn't awful, but not at all worth the time. There are so many other better things to do.

Will probably stop in Pisa on the way to Cinque Terre

Fair enough. Just don't go too far out of your way. It's on par with a roadside carnival.

This is what we did. Had a 1 hr gap between trains from Florence to cinqe Terre and squeezed in a trip to take the picture of the tower. It was tight but doable.

Make sure you check when the Amalfi Coast shuts down.

You'd hate to be there if all of the restaurants, etc. aren't being operated, etc.

If you're looking for a private tour guide, these two were really good. Both do the Rick Steves tours. They'll put you on the good restaurants as well.
