Hello all, I realize there's a thread below about Copenhagen but I didn't want to hijack it. My family of 4, kids ages 12 and 10, are planning a trip for 2 weeks through Europe during our kids spring break, with an additional week off. We'll be there the last week of March and fist week of April. Our tentative plan is Copenhagen (5 days), Bremen (4 days), and Utrecht (4 days). We plan to use these cities as our base camp and well day trip from there for any sights.

We've done a fair bit of research but I'd love some first hand insight into some "must see" sights. We're hoping to expose our children to new cultures, see really old things, and just take in the Country. I prefer to stay out of the main tourist traps. My wife is an avid watercolor painter so we definitely want to hit up picturesque settings where she can photography/sketch to then have an arsenal of painting canvases when we return. We' like to visit museums, but kid friendly that won't bore my children (it's a delicate balance).

Appreciate any future advice!

Great time to go. Copenhagen starts setting up for "spring" mid-March. Still ice on the water but spring to them. The crowds will not be too much since most go in the summer. Take a jacket.

In Copenhagen, Tivoli Gardens amusement park is awesome

The zoo has a polar bear if you have never seen one

If your kids are into Lego, the original Legoland and the Lego House in Billund are definitely worth a stop.

I came here to add this. Didn't do Legoland but the Lego House was fantastic.

In Copenhagen in March, bring a jacket and an umbrella. Lived there two years and remember March being pretty dreary. Just checked the stats and average high in Copenhagen in March is 41 and average low is 31 and it averages rain one in three days during the month. It's nicknamed "land of the low sky" as sunshine can be rare that time of year.

Edited to add: Tivoli does not open until March 22nd. Legoland may have just opened….but it will be cold and moist.
