Sort of a last minute trip and a bit overwhelmed with options. So need help deciding hotel and areas to stay in for Lisbon and Porto. I have Hyatt and Hilton points/status but not limited to those hotels. I'm a solo traveler so safe areas and I'm not a big night owl.
Thinking of doing an overnight or two in Cascais and explore Sintra.
Also going to the Azores but have that figured out.
Thanks!

Just got back from there. I did one night in Hyatt in Lisbon which is more in the Belem neighborhood. It is nice but not convenient to anything except riverfront and Belem tower. We moved to an aparthotel for the next few nights more in central Lisbon by Rossio. To be honest, Lisbon was cool but a bit overrated and more expensive if you are eating and drinking nicely than what has been advertised, granted we went to some great restaurants. Wine is cheap though. Didnt make it over to Cascais but would maybe stay there or further out in beach towns up west coast away from the masses of people.

In Porto we stayed at ICON duplo ribiera and I would highly recommend. A few of the employees were good looking women, regardless they all were super friendly and spoke great English. They had a great breakfast too and its very central to everything.

ps. Porto was one of my favorite places I've been (no world traveler here).

Restaurants: Casario, Bacalha. Walk the river at night and theres penty of restaurants, bars, live music, people etc.

Things to do: A tour at Graham's Port Wine was awesome and then food at Vinum's. And we did a Duro River Cruise but its an all day affair, walk across the Ponte de Luis to Vila Nova de Gaia and go to the Jardim de Morro, The Torre dos Clerigos and Porto Cathedral were cool. Tour of Palacio da Bolsa was neat but there's a line and ticket sales to go through so I wouldn't do it unless trying to kill some time during the day. Sat in a little plaza by the "Harry Potter book store" Livraria Lello and listened to live music and watched all the nerds in line trying to check the place out.

Thanks for the recommendation on the hotel! Do you remember what tour you took to Douro Valley River tour? There are so many and have time to do an entire day tour.

We found Living Tours on TripAdvisor and glad we booked them. Their HQ was walking distance from the hotel and they had really good guides and comfortable buses.
