Family is headed to Broken Bow, OK for a week in early Oct.

Appreciate any recommendations for things to do, places to eat, etc.

Hiking the lake was great. We did it during Spring Break. I don't know what October weather is like.

Best (short) hike with best view is Cedar Bluff Nature Trail. Less than a mile and best view of the valley.

You can also hike along the river spillway with the Friends Loop trail. Also a great place to short tube (byo tube). Oct may be too cool because the water is COLD.

For long tubes and canoe trips, you can hook up with an outfitter in the park. The lower mountain fork river is pretty great for canoeing - very mild rapids and cool water.

Someone mentioned zip lines - there is also a great golf course, putt putt, bowling, maze for the kids, and a petting zoo. There is plenty of shopping as well.

Food - Grateful Head (pizza) is a must, Shuck Me (seafood), and the Saloon are all great.

Night life - the saloon has a stage now, so they often have concerts on weekends.

There is also the casino….

I do not recommend Hochatown Saloon for food or service. Terrible experience over Spring Break. 2.7 stars on YELP.

Buffalo Grill was great. Solid food and great service.

Not sure if the Choctaw Casino is open yet, but that should be a fun stop.

The trails and outdoor activities above are all great. Overall great trip with a lot to do.

We were there only a short time, but had a blast. We did a lake cruise/booze cruise that was fun, did a like fly fishing on the river down from the dam, hiked with the kids in the state park, had a pretty good dinner at Shuck Me.

Riverman Trail rides was awesome for horseback riding. We also ride horses in the state park but it wasn't as fun. We found most places to eat, overrated and we aren't food snobs. We also rented an atv and drove the trails which was fun.
