I am flying to Thailand later this year for work and am ticketed through United, but some of my flights are operated by Japan Air and ANA.
When I booked the tickets through my company's travel system, I got seat assignments for the United flights, but not for the partner flights, and I want to choose seats for all.
In my United app, it seems like I can select seats on the partner flights, but the app also suggests using the partner website instead.
Has anyone else done this? Anything to watch out for?
When I had a similar situation a few years ago, I attempted to change my seats directly on the ANA website, and it seemed to work at the time. However, it also seemed to cause a problem with my ticket that wasn't discovered until I tried to check in for the flight. Based on what the checkin counter agent said, it was almost as if my flight was booked fine initially but later cancelled due to an issue at the time of seat selection. Luckily, they were able to get it sorted out, but I'd prefer to avoid issues like that again.
