How long do you want to ignore this user?
Anyone ever been ignored during the process to book an Airbnb? Looking in London for this summer and it seems like (I'm fairly certain at this point...) the "host" doesn't want to to do business with me.

I sent a message to tell them who was going to be there to show no kids. Paid the half as it was offered.

The last time I booked through Airbnb was May, 2021. Needless to say, I don't use them much so there is limited information on me out there.

I'm wondering if not paying the full amount and my lack of experience with them is playing into the ghosting. I booked last night; they are 6 hours ahead of us so their work day is nearly done. I'm not naive to what's happening but was curious if this is a common thing.

Thanks.

You just booked last night, it hasn't even been 24 hours. I think you need to relax a little bit lol. Some hosts want to approve the booking before actually confirming. I think they have 24 hours to confirm.

Yeah, give them some time. I've had bookings be approved within a few hours, and bookings approved almost a week later. Same with Vrbo.

Thanks. Y'all were right. I read too much into the time difference and stuff off the internet where people have been ignored before.

I don't Airbnb very much, as you can tell.

Thanks again.

We are AirBnB hosts, so I can tell you how it works.

All is done through the app. Owners are notified through push notifications that you have booked. But just depending on how attentive they are to the app, they may or may not see it right away. They got noticed if your request to book immediately.

AirBnB has an option for auto approving guests that have I think three stays or more with positive guest reviews. We have that turned on so those guests are auto approved and get immediate confirmation. If your hosts typically use that and you don't have enough stays to qualify, they may take a little longer to reply.

Honestly, I'd consider cancelling and finding something else. This may indicate they are not very attentive, and if you were to be there and have an issue that needs attention, you need them to be responsive.

When we were new hosts we had a mess up and our guests couldn't get in while we were in bed. Our phones were on do not disturb, so they had to find a last minute hotel. Huge lesson for us, embarrassing mistake. We now have a system for them to get in touch with us in the middle of the night (which has never happened again of course) but we don't want to strand anyone. You don't want to get stranded, either.
