Does anyone own Away luggage? Any feedback? Is it worth the extra $?

We are your basic Samsonite/American Tourister kind of family, so nothing more high end to compare to. I thought the prices were high at purchase, but I am quite satisfied with the value and performance 18 months later.

We bought my daughter the Away Medium and Carry-On for her high school graduation. She also has the packing cubes.

It has held up well to an international trip, a couple of domestics, and back and forth to College Station for a year. She has the pink, and I thought it would be very marked up by baggage handling and her dragging it across her bumper getting it out of her car, but the one or two marks she has gotten came right off and it still looks brand new (her bumper, not so much). The integrated lock is nice. She tends to use it as a chair while waiting in line at the airport, and it isn't any worse for the wear, still rolls easy. I think it will last quite a while.

When my wife first bought one of the carry-ons I thought she was crazy... We now have another carry-on and a Medium for when we need to check a bag.

We have gotten a lot of use out of them and they are still in great shape. The lifetime warranty also went a long way in getting me to pull the trigger on the additional purchases (and they were on sale). It is nice knowing if something breaks they will fix it. If you're cost sensitive, there are obviously other good options out there, but we have been happy with the purchase.

My wife's parents insist on getting us gifts for Christmas every year so a few years ago my wife got one of the bigger carryons. We loved it. I travel weekly and I have one of the aluminum bigger carry ons. We now also have a medium and a large for when we check bags. I will say they are the best suitcases I've owned and I've been traveling for work the better part of 15 years.

I've got a checked bag that I've used for 4 years and it's held up pretty well. However, the lock broke a couple of years ago and, despite having the lifetime warranty, I've not gotten it fixed. I dont want to be without my bag for the duration I'm sure it'll take to fix it.

My wife got a Monos bag recently and it compares pretty well to the Away bag. Mine feels maybe a little more sturdy and a bit heavier. But it seems to be a good, comparable bag and carries a lower price.
