Any suggestions on local Places to visit, stay, eat. Never been and entire family going for a week - most likely driving from Houston. Youngest is 13.

The Aquarium, Rock City Gardens, Ruby Falls, Raccoon Mountain Caverns.
These are ones I've done there and enjoyed. I believe there's several other things to do there as well, including a zoo.

I recommend this hotel if you have the option on where to stay:
https://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/chaox-moxy-chattanooga-downtown/

It is a short walk to the choo choo and warehouse district, there's a brewery 2 min away by foot, and it has a cool lobby with games and a good bar. Only downside is that the rooms are on the small side.

It's a beautiful area. Definitely take a trip to Point Park if you like history and explore Lookout Mountain.

In second the Ocoee River. It is amazing. The Cohutta Wilderness is also close and has some good trails if you enjoy hiking.

We are fans of Tupelo Honey Cafe. It's a chain, but a small chain.

All of the above are good recs. The Aquarium and Rock City are musts. If you are at all interested in caves, Cumberland Caverns is close and quite beautiful. They used to have concerts inside it. Ocoee River is where they did the kayaking for the 96 Olympics.

Lookout Mountain. Incredible views of Chattanooga. The museum, if you're into the Civil War, is a must.

The Aquarium is actually two adjoining buildings...one salt water, one fresh water. While both are great, the freshwater facility was amazing.

If you enter Chattanooga from the south on I-75, there's a Bucc-ee's in Calhoun, Georgia, about 50 minutes away.

You will enjoy your visit...Chattanooga is a neat 'small' city.

If you golf you must go to Sweetens Cove in south Pittsburg. Not too far of a drive from Chatt….one of the best golf experiences you can do in America IMO

We really like Rembrandt's Coffee House (https://goo.gl/maps/aDR4aN31y7eT5Mmc9)

It's up on a nice hill (sure it has a name) with a nice little walk. Good for brunch or afternoon pastry.

If you do golf this isn't a course you can just step on on a whim. Get a tee time now if you can. You can always cancel.

Rock City is amazing.

If you are driving there which route will you go ??

No idea yet as the fields are all spread out from north Georgia to Chattanooga. Just looking at the map starting in houston I-10 to 59 most likely but up for ideas. Anticipating a two day travel so we can see more things along the way. Family road trip with 16 girl and 13 year old boy.

Again thank you all so much for your suggestions as this has already helped a lot with possible team and family activities.

If you want to knock out most of the trip the first day you can stop in Huntsville, AL. Chattanooga will only be another 87 miles the following day. Huntsville has a lot of hotel and restaurant choices and is easier to navigate than Birmingham. U.S. Space and Rocket Center probably isn't a draw for Houston folks, but could be a half-day activity before you head on to Chattanooga.

That looks like a great place to stay however they picked one that I am excited about as well called the reed house. It's a historic hotel very close to the one you recommended.

I am getting excited even though this is 6 months away. Thank you all for your suggestions!!! I keep recommending them to the group and I am sure some will stick.

Chattanooga is usually our half way point driving to the in-laws in Virginia. We always enjoy our stop over. We did two nights last time so we could do the aquarium and Ruby falls.

Sweetens doesn't really do tee times anymore. They sell all day passes, and single rounds, in blocks per season. All day passes have priority and then they send out 18 hole groups and then 9 hole groups. April through October passes go on sale this Friday.
