We're planning a family trip in August/Sept and are looking into staying at Cinnamon Shore (2 adults and 2 young kids).

Wanted to see if the board had any recommendations on things to do, actual units, dos/don'ts, etc.

Any pointers would be appreciated!

We tried it for the first time last year and it was really nice. We're used to 30A but wanted to do something closer since we had a couple of small kids in tow this time. Of course compared to Florida the beach is not good, but the trade-off of driving the golf cart down to the beach with a toddler and baby was a worthwhile.

Don't worry about proximity to the beach when selecting a housesince you're driving to the beach it really doesn't matter. There's an HEB on that side of Corpus for easy groceries. The pools are really nice, especially the one with the bar.

While there IS an HEB, it's on the Bluff, so it's about a 25-30 min drive from Port A. There's an IGA (smaller grocery store) in Port A that you can get most of what you'd need and it's only 5 min from Cinnamon Shores.

Port A has a lot of great restaurants. The Gaff is a dive, but they have a nice backyard area that kids can play around in and the pizza is actually pretty good.

N Padre is 20 south and there's a bunch of good restaurants here, too. But, you really don't need to make the extra drive. You'll find plenty to do in Port A.

Tldr for this: tourists, stay in Port A and stay the hell away from where we live.

Yeah. This.

Oh, and go through Aransas Pass and take the ferry to Port A so you don't clog up the bridge.

Oh...except for any tourists that want to rent my condos. You're cool.

Take the ferry but more for the kiddos to experience. Iga in port A would then be on the way in. I don't think there are units that need to be avoided as they are fairly well managed and in good condition. Beach conditions a few weeks ago was a little rough. Sargasm and dirty water- maybe from rain and storms? but hopefully clears up soon.

Golf at Palmilla, hangout at the beach and pools during the day. Shopping in port A. There's a candy shop and the tourist shops have fun things the kids may enjoy perusing. There's putt putt on north padre island.

port A restaurants : la playa, Venetian hot plate
Npid restaurants: island time sushi , black sheep bistro , padre island burger co.

We stay at CS every year - beach is an easy drive through the property from anywhere... rent a cart or just drive over to the back pool, park & walk over (we just pile in the back of truck sometimes

CS usually manicures thier portion of beach in the mornings - the chair rentals are ok but plenty of room to find your own spot

The pools are great, esp with kids. The smaller one with infinity wall has a cafe, but you can take your own cooler/drinks to the bigger one

The black drum fingers there are GREAT

But...a lot of that is going away soon.

Oh, and if you want to cook in your place, I think Paul's Seafood has opened up a place in Port A. Great FRESH selection there.

And It's been awhile and I haven't checked after Harvey, but the Polly Anna did fresh shrimp every day - get there early. It's a shrimp boat that is/was parked at the marina in Port A.

We go every year and love it. I'm sure you have already taken a look but the "things to do" section of their website will be helpful you. Lots of stuff to keep the kids occupied. Call early and reserve a golf cart. It's a necessity.

You can stay at either a townhouse or condo if it is just 2 adult and 2 kids. Most, if not all, units have bunk beds for the kids and pull out couches. There are several townhouses/condos with 1 bedroom and 2 bathrooms if you wanted to stay in a smaller place the first time.

We went last year for first time with kids (5 & 3 1/2 at time) and they loved it. Pools are fun as others have said.
Beach is well kept. They show movies on big lawn most nights.

We did the Scarlet Lady dolphin cruise (at sunset) & that was fun. See a lot of dolphins, bar on boat, cruise around the port. Good activity to get out of Cinnamon Shore

If you are passing through Corpus take a look at the Harbor Bridge construction. Quite a project.
